So removing the zerk fitting would let air come in as you are pulling it apart? Maybe blow air in it after zerk is out?

not very familiar with the 809 series trucks but I believe you can change it between 6x4 and 6x6. if not you can always disconnect the front driveshaft.

I didn't hear anything bad. Maybe you found the problem in that driveshaft. It might be worth it to pull the U joints out of it and install new ones. PM me if you need a second ear.

The transmission was removed since bolts are missing. Its a lot more than a missing driveshaft. You need to scan all the photos carefully.
