Hey folks
I've got an 802a generator about 2500 hours
It has never given the rated power output. It is usually happy at about 2,000 watts. Anything above that and it surges.
It just started disconnecting power and the red overload light comes on. Only pulling 1600 watts of power. I have my...
The drive shaft angle is pretty steep on the back of the M1078 ( and all the others)
What do you think about shimming the axle under the springs 1/2" to 0". This would turn the axle a little to face the drive shaft with a little bit less of an angle.
Thoughts?
I am going to remove the drive shafts on my M1078 and have them balanced.
Attached is a picture of one of the new u-joints for my M1078. They aren't like u-joints I have replaced in the past ( all on smaller trucks) The bolt plates/covers and the bearing caps are all one piece.

The beds pin onto the frame when...

Anybody know a good part number and a good source? If I understand correctly they are 20" x 3/8" thick?
Been thinking it would be a good idea to replace the coolant / transmission fluid heat ex-changer out of my M1078 to an air cooled unit like in the M1088 and M1083's.
It seems the possibility of coolant eventually getting into the transmission via the heat ex-changer is a good reason to...
Hey folks
I am about to purchase tires for my M1078. Currently I have a set of Michelin XML tires on the truck.
Most of the driving this truck will see is on the highway, due to it being an Expedition Camper. However it will see its share of off road use.
The goal is to make the truck as...

I have a 1995 M1078. I would like to install new ring and pinion to get better highway comfort, lower rpm, and a little more speed.
