When I was a young buck Sargent, I seem to remember that we would use a 50/50 mix of cosmoline and diesel fuel to treat the canvass bed covers for our deuces.
Is old age playing tricks on my mind or does that mixture sound familiar to anyone.
What do you guys use for your canvas?
Picture of my M38A1 during my towns summer celebration. I bought it in 1996 and it took me a year to refurbish it. Took it all the way down to a bare frame, rebuilt the engine myself and refurbished all the parts in my garage.
About time for a another overhaul, I want to redo the engine...
Midwest Military is great to deal with. I've been to their shop a couple of time. Nicest guy you would ever want to do business with. He has one heck of a collection of vehicles, I got the chance to do a up close look of his command car.
Got all my trucks from Camp Dodge, Iowa. Got in, started up and drove home. Stopped at the Casey's outside the main gate, topped off with diesel and was on my way. I used brake cleaner to remove the paint over the bumper numbers.
Would like to start inquiring to see if there is anyone that might be going that way and cost. The sale is not final yet, but I would like to see what transport options are out there. Load would be a M35A2 (Duece) and M105 trailer with a spare engine in the trailer. Total weight of an estimated...
I live 30 minutes from Camp Dodge, if you need to get off site. I can pick it up and store it at my place untill arrangements can be made for pick/delivery. Just pay for my fuel down and back.
No, not bobbing the hooters gun truck. That truck will be sold off shortly. Never actually got around to building it. Gonna be getting rid of the van truck and the jeep also.:(
Possible deal?
Blaine isn't that far, just 3.5 hours. Perhaps I could make a day trip and come check yours out and discuss a possible build for me. I can stop at Owatonna and Prior Lake to make the trip more interesting.
Firewood
I currently have a M101A2 sitting by my patio door 1/2 full of firewood. When I first loaded it, it was stacked side to side, top to bottom and front to back and the springs hardly noticed the weight. Trailer was balanced with the laod I had and I could pick up the front end and move...
That would be the Gold Star Museum. Nice displays of weapons and vehicles. (One of the vehicles on display, a M109 ITV (Improved TOW Vehicle) is from my old unit and I use drive it.)
I'd recommend it for a visit if in the area.
The museum is located on Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa, which is...
Mike is the MAN
Good natured, always has a smile and easy to work with. Goes out of his way to make the load out easy and quick.
I picked up my ammo cans and commo wire on Friday, Nov 6th and it was by far the easiest loadout I have had yet.
Dealing with Mike at Sparta is worth the 5 hour...
I picked up 400 .30 cal ammo cans and 80 of the SAW cans from Sparta and a M105 carpenter trailer from Rock Island. Easy pick up for me as both are within 4 hours drive of me.
I think ther trailer will turn out to be a nice hardtop conversion.
My trailer was lot 7505
