    1953 M38A1 Serial Number location(s) ?

Good eye, I do not have enough knowledge to be able to make that kind of accessment. Thanks for the info, I can see the cut part on the back of the grille in the photo. I agree that probably best not to keep a running total on the parts. Will have to spread that 5K over a few years. later.

Yep, a good sandblasting, but will get a good high pressure wash for now, then review to see just what all I have.

Need information on two data plates on a 44 CCKW 353

Ok that will give me some intel to reference. The emblem also had what I believe to be the words. "Fairfield Ordnance Center" on the bottom part of the circle. Hard to read but that is what it looked like. You can see the large K to the left of the bomb symbol and the C to the right with the...

    1953 M38A1 Serial Number location(s) ?

Photos of my 53 M38A1 A few more. The rebuild tag in one of the photos if mounted on the steering gear box. Looks like a rebuild at Fort Benning, Ga back in 66. Can assume the jeep was stationed their or at least the gear box was at that time.

    1953 M38A1 Serial Number location(s) ?

Hi Maverick1701 / NDT, yes back in 09/10 I started working out of state and between my job and family I had no time for any of my hobbies. Unfortunately I had sold off most of my toys but did manage to keep a couple of M880's. I am no longer working out of state so am starting to get back...

    1953 M38A1 Serial Number location(s) ?

Hi, I just purchased a 1953 M38A1. The data plates are all still mounted on the dash panel except for one small square size plate located at the bottom center of the panel. The plate that listed the Date of Delivery and the serial number is still in place. Assuming that the data plates are...

    Mystery Part from CCKW?

Yes, it is definitely the upper air baffle. I just saw the same piece on another grille that I had. Not sure why I had not noticed it before. thanks

    Mystery Part from CCKW?

Makes since NDT. I am not sure how it mounts but there are two mounting braces or tabs on this part so I will figure it out. Glad I have it and it was not lost or time. thanks

    Mystery Part from CCKW?

Hi Guyfang, numbers are pretty faded and hard to see all of them. All I can make out are 5 35841. Might be a few letters as well but cannot make them out. Another member has identified the part as a radiator air baffle. thanks

    Mystery Part from CCKW?

Hi, I found this part located laying loose in between the grille and the radiator near the top section. Not sure what part this is and were it goes (if it even goes to a CCKW). The part has the remains of OD on it and also has a series of numbers stenciled in white on one side. Anyone have...

Need information on two data plates on a 44 CCKW 353

Also would you know the approx. date of delivery based on the serial number. Unfortunately the data plate with that information is missing from my dash. I was hoping that with other known DOD and serial numbers that an approx. DOD time period could be determined. My serial number is 407275...

Need information on two data plates on a 44 CCKW 353

Wow, thanks NDT. I did not think that any CCKWs were returned back to the US unless imported by private collectors later on once these trucks were surplused out by the various countries that we gave them to after the war. Do you know where the rebuild depot was in Germany? Interesting to know...

Brass vs Zinc dash data plates?

Hi, I am starting to review the dash plates on my 44 353. Some are missing, and other are covered in several layers of yellow paint. I have not yet had a chance to look at them up close. I have noticed on the web that some are listed a brass and other as zinc. I wanted to know which would be...

Need a rear trunnion shaft for a CCKW with banjo axles.

I called Sam Winer today and they advised I was about 10 years too late. Apparently they scrapped what remained of their CCKW parts trucks although they still have some CCKW parts available. I am going to try Vehicles of Victory tomorrow to see if they might have any used T/O parts. I agree...
