    6.2 Starter Bolt Info

I want to add that these ARP bolts also work. I just installed them after my gm bolt snapped, even with the bracket mounted.

    M1009 heater blower switch

Just figured it out. I traced the orange wire running from the ignition switch to the heater fuse. someone before me put an inline 20amp fuse there that was corroded and didn’t have continuity. Why it was there, I have no earthly clue. I clipped it out and reconnected the wire with a crimp and...

    M1009 heater blower switch

Thanks for the reply. I don’t even want to imagine what that smelled like… I checked for voltage coming to the variable speed resistor and did not find any. Then I ran 12v from my battery to the blower itself and it worked. So I went ahead and bought a switch from Napa bc I thought I ruled...

    M1009 heater blower switch

This is an old thread, but I didn’t want to start a new one on the same subject. Mine suddenly quit working the other day, So far I’ve ruled out the blower motor and switch. it seems I am not getting voltage to my heater fuse block with the key on. After looking through the diagrams it seems...

Why are my starter bolts coming loose??

Just for fun, how would you fix that? I kind of assumed once that happened you’re up the creek on that block.

Why are my starter bolts coming loose??

I don’t know how it would happen but maybe you’ve had some shims come out? i would probably just pull it and test it. Make sure you have new bolts and that proper rear bracket before you reinstall. Gm starter bolts 15544950 Gear reduction starter bracket N23502557

What the Heck is Going On with this Speedometer???

You may have to get creative to get the new cable back through the rubber grommet leading into the cab. Personally I taped a sharpie marker to the end of the cable to push and pull it through. Don’t forget to lubricate the new cable.

    Speedometer gear teeth count

41 teeth There’s supposed to be an adapter that goes in between the Speedo cable and the housing for the transfer case. The m1008 does not have this. My adapter recently failed so I removed it and put in a 34 count gear and housing ( it’s still about 5mph off) , but it functions smoothly now .

    Speedometer cable tip

It’s ok , I found one and it should arrive soon. Thanks for all your help .

    Speedometer cable tip

It smoothed right out . It’s about 14mph off so I’m going to delete the adapter and order a 34 tooth gear and housing. Especially since I can’t find an adapter anywhere. Thanks

    Speedometer cable tip

We Aha!!!!! Now I understand, that piece of cable that was stuck in the driven gear must’ve belonged to the adapter. I removed it and Now just got to put it back in and test the Speedometer.

    Speedometer cable tip

You’re such a huge help and yes I agree that it’s probably the adapter box. Just one quick question, my driven gear has like a “male” square cable that comes out of it to connect to the adapter. Does this come off? It feels like it’s stuck In there pretty good and I sure hate to break it if I...

    Speedometer cable tip

As far as I know it’s still 3.08 axle ratio and I’m running 33’s. i know why that conversion box is there butis there a way to bypass it and still be accurate?

    Speedometer cable tip

Thanks very much. Yes it did help . so I took the time tonight to remove the adapter ( I think only the m1009 has it) and the sleeve. the driven gear looked fine, I greased it. Drive gear was good too. I went ahead and disassembled the adapter gear box and cleaned and re-greased that as well...

    Speedometer cable tip

What do you guys think if I’ve changed the Speedo cable, changed the Speedo itself , lubed the core with graphite oil , made sure there’s no sharp curves and still get an erratic reading? Whats the part called that connects the Speedo cable to the transfer case? I got a 100” cable with...

    Too Late shift problem

I had the same issue, changed all of my lines because they were dry rotted.. There are two sizes. You need a bigger one that fits directly onto the vacuum pump and an adapter to step it down to a smaller. I discovered someone in error had placed the lines on backwards at the vacuum valve on...

    M1009 Revival

What’s funny is that I was messing around and cleaned up that “grounding tree” that’s mounted on the emergency brakes and my fuel gauge started working all of a sudden. Pleasant surprise to say the least.

Do you remember where the electrical connections were on the firewall that got your gas gauge working again?

    Starter relay

Well hopefully that means that at least whoever converted it to 12v did it correctly

    Starter relay
