Synthetic winch line Replaced the 200' of wire rope with the 100' of the best synthetic line I could find. Much less annoying to use, and it no longer has to spool perfectly so I can use it by myself. I think it still can wind poorly, so I have to keep an eye on it, but it rarely does. I got...

    Blake's Deuce Mods

Inverter I'm not sure how good an idea this is but it seems to work, it is a readywelder/inverter nato plug adapter. I don't know how to weld so I haven't tried that part but the inverter runs my electric chainsaw. I don't know for how long because I don't want to beat up the batteries...

Chains And Kublos made me some chains, which are awesome, but I haven't used them much. Quite a lot of effort to take on and off, and this wasn't much of a winter, more muddy than icy. It went from basically undrivable on snow and ice to great on ice, although even louder and slower than it...

dump bed Kenny Kublo put a dump under my bed. That doesn't sound like a nice thing to do, but it was. Hand unloading a deuce is laborious.

Cameras I mounted one over the trailer hitch I had made, and under the dump bed, and one on a loc line snake that I can use to cover my blind spot or twist to keep an eye on my winch to make sure it is spooling properly.

Outside shaded by trees, I can't remember if it was uv stabilized lexan, but it hasn't been a problem yet and it's been a year or two.

    2. lock out hubs. Jatonka I think. Much better handling and much easier driving. Better turning, better fuel economy, less tire wear. And I can hop out and put it in six wheel drive if I want to. Doesn't try to wail on my poor funnybone nearly as much.

Solar Panels I put 100 watt flexible solar panels on the roof, and protected them with lexan sheets. They keep the batteries charged and balanced so that the truck starts more reliably and batteries live longer.

A thread for my deuce modifications, for learning or teaching.

    m35a2 mods/performance upgrades

I echo the OPs first question. What would you guys say would be the ideal way to have the turbocharger/fuel metering set up? It seems to me that D>C>>no turbo unless you like the whistle (which is cool and C and D are about the same functionally). But even the D seems old, and I don't really...

900 series fan clutch on a LDT deuce?

How is this going? Sounds very promising...

What priority should deuce modifications have?

My brakes are in good working order, I'm pretty sure they will lock the wheels, my parking brake is strong. What other major safety issues are there? I guess I'd like a cage or something but that seems kind of expensive at this point.

What priority should deuce modifications have?

I don't have the CTIS off an A3, just the hubs, so hopefully the tires won't sit around flat much. And so far I've been to lazy to play with my tire air pressure, that sounds pretty laborious to me(and I haven't been getting stuck too much). I am tempted to put ARB locking diffs on the rear...

What priority should deuce modifications have?

Thanks guys, I put 14.5s on A3 rims. With lockout front hubs. That took care of my dryrot problem :D

    ARB locker modification?

Hmmm. Thanks guys, I guess just 2 ARB's in the back is ideal enough then. Open diffs on the front with lock out hubs. Seems like the most bang for the buck.

    ARB locker modification?

That would be one way of doing it, but you have to get out to engage the lock out hubs I think, and I thought it was harder to put lock out hubs on the rear axles. Flanges or splines or something, not cheap. If I was going to do it that way I'd just use one ARB air locker and a Detroit locker...

    ARB locker modification?

It seems to me that a deuce on the highway would only need 2 wheel drive with an open diff for better fuel economy, is there a way to change an ARB air locker on one of the rear axles from an open/locked to a free spinning/locked. That way you could have 2 wheel drive with minimal scrubbing...

What priority should deuce modifications have?

Ah, so it splits the brakes into 2 systems that are unlikely to fail at the same time. That makes sense. I wanted to get the rims to replace the split rims with Michelin xl 11r20s that are on it now because those things kind of scare me so I don't like them. It looked like the custom rims...

What priority should deuce modifications have?

My parking brake seems to work fine. The brakes sound like a good idea, what's the best way to bring the brakes up to very good standards? That would be to prevent failure and make it stop better, right? Around what should that cost?
