Any Members Near Orlando FL Recommend a Shop for Diesel Repairs?

Just looking for any members in Central Florida that might be able to recommend a shop to change out stuck and broken glow plugs in a 6.2 Detroit Diesel? Not many shops are willing to work on Humvees :(

    M1114 AC charge

The best way is to use a set of AC gauges to determine when it is full, based on outside temp, humidity, etc. But to get the compressor to run, so the gauges read correctly, you sometimes have to short the ac pressure switch. Not sure how you could really get 3 pounds in the system without the...

    Highway Cruising Speed

M998 with the stock TH400 three speed was barely convoy speed of 45MPH. Upgraded to the 4L80E and I don't have the guts to go over 60. Nobody has dared yet to give me the finger. :burn:

    Spare 6.5 non-turbo and 4L80E (4 speed) cost?

I have been looking into an eventual engine replacement and can tell you that you can get rebuilt Jasper engine for $6005, plus $750 core and $600 skid and comes with a warranty. I found other rebuilts that were slightly higher. When I was looking into rebuilt 4L80, they were all over the...

US shift gen 4 on Hmmwv

I posted this before so this is repeat. I installed the aftermarket US Shift Quick 4 when I swapped out my TH400. Is is not cheap, for sure. There are others that are less expensive. US Shift tech support is great, so long as you call them - don't bother emailing, they won't respond. They now...

    Which TCM and/or after market

I can only chime in regarding the aftermarket US Shift Quick 4, which I installed when I swapped out my TH400. Is is not cheap, for sure. There are others that are less expensive. US Shift tech support is great, so long as you call them - don't bother emailing, they won't respond. They now offer...

Is there a way to run Optima batteries in the HMMWV?

Since you were gifted the Optima's, you are good to go. But just for the record, Optima's are not what they were 20 years ago.

Best places to look for a reliable 6.5 TD engine? What is needed to swap from a 6.2?

Sorry, I swapped in a 4L80 not a six speed. I fixed my typo. Ok, best sources for 6.5 NA engines?

Best places to look for a reliable 6.5 TD engine? What is needed to swap from a 6.2?

Again looking for advice from the collective. As I put in a post previously, I made the mistake of attempting to change out my glow plugs myself. One head had one that was rusted to the treads and would no budge with a breaker bar and rounded off the head. Another on the other head actually...

Which states are not HMMWV friendly?

Just a suggestion. Maybe the moderators can create a sticky with a table of states and status of Friendly, Unfriendly or Undetermined?

    Holy hell 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

My apologies for taking so long trying this ball valve out. My first mistake is that the output line of the fuel filter is 3/8" while the input line is 1/4" from the tank. I had to go to Ace to get new fittings. I decided to connect it to the 1/4" side, which is the fuel filter intake, the...

    Holy hell 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I just received mine and had not had a chance to play with it other than unboxing it. It opens when 24VDC is applied to the leads, and automatically closes when the votage is removed. It uses a capacitor to power the close without power. It has some sort of dial on top of it with an arrow...

    Holy hell 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I have done a bunch of thinking and searching and I think, which is always questionable according to the wife, that I might have a solution that might satisfy both an anti-theift and run-away concerns without opening the hood. I found a Motorized Ball Valve 24VDC with Auto Return. This valve is...

    Holy hell 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I think the rubber lines are 3/8". So I was looking at a 3/8 inch NORMALLY OPEN 24V DC VDC Brass Solenoid Valve, with a 3/8" barb on each end, clamp, and powered off a fused 24V connection directly to the battery through a toggle switch hidden (or not). Only thing is that I guess this cannot...

    Holy hell 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

WoW! This being my first diesel, I too was concerned about this so I posted a thread asking if this was a valid concern. The consensus of the forum was that run-aways were of no concern, and did not happen! Now I am concerned again. I think I will install a brass valve to cut-off fuel supply...

    Electrical Dip

I am no expert, but I recently upgraded from a 60 amp to 200 amp and now mine stays in the middle of the green no matter what accessories or lights, I have on. As the others said, maybe a loose or corroded connection, regulator going funky, or battery developing a problem.
