Just posting some pics I took with my FLIR camera of the engine bay following a cold start (~10 degrees outside). Thought someone else might find it kinda neat. You can also see the way the rear differential is warmed up (in this case) which is cool. That's pretty much it. No other point to this...
It does take a few seconds (actually more like a minute for mine) because that valve is heat actuated. Has to heat up before it moves. Some people put a manual valve in so you can just set it closed when it's summer.
Dang, I should have updated my post. So anyways, months later and my truck is fully registered and titled in Utah. They just clicked the emissions exempt button in their system and it was good to go.
I have watched my waste gate rod while driving around and I couldn't see any kind of movement on it at all but as far as I can tell, the turbo does seem to be working fine. I can definitely hear it spool up and the truck is pretty peppy like its making boost. The turbo whistle isn't crazy...
Yep, that appears to be an Organic Acid Technology type of coolant. I elected to go with an old school Inorganic Acid coolant in the end. Honestly, you are probably fine with whatever you go with as long as you flush out the system completely so there is no IAT - OAT mixing that could...
That is basically exactly what I ended up doing in the end. I started with the Universal stuff then ended up draining it out after a few weeks after I did some research and learned some things that concerned me. I am glad I did too because there was a lot of sediment that was already starting to...
He means if the glow plug ON light stays illuminated longer than the normal cycle time, there was a failure internal to the PCB and now the glow plugs are stuck on. If you don't immediately disconnect the batteries, the glow plugs will be destroyed. Just be careful if that condition occurs...
Do your trucks not have a screen installed in the fuel filler that would prevent someone from easily siphoning the fuel out? I guess I need to look more closely at mine to see if its easily removable or something. If someone really wanted the fuel, there is that black rubber drain plug on the...
I'm also curious about this. If I can find some sheets of rubber, I'll use my laser cutter to cut out the patterns. Definitely cheaper than ordering OEM replacements.
Hmmm I would have thought yours would be in a batch before mine. I heard the same thing every week for months before it finally showed up so maybe yours is real soon.
Fan clutch should be very tight when the engine is off so that sounds about right. I cannot move mine by hand either but it turns on and off normally as the engine temp varies.
