What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

RetiredWarHorses is sending me a new rod assembly. I will replace the assembly. I may have been able to spend the effort to correct it, but now I should have a clean solution. Plus, it is in the 40s and raining now. too cold to persuade the assembly to cooperate.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Great feedback. I went to Brakes Plus and they were able to get me on the lift and run an alignment check. All 4 tires were out of alignment toe-out, but ok on the camber and caster. They were able to zero the toe for 3 of four but that problem tire adjustment rod was not moving (-1.16). We...

Ok, Thanks Steve. -24 Chapter 34 Suspension Maintenance. That should be fun. Any ideas on where to find shims - if I need them?

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

My 1151 has a tire wear issue. The left rear tire appears to only be wearing on the inside and basically has ruined the tire. Any ideas on why and remediation prior to replacing?

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Decided to get the 1151A1 weighed so I could reduce my yearly tabs. I figured it would drop to 5000-6000 lbs. Nope, right at 8,000lbs. Dang thing is heavy. Here is a picture from the summer trip to an OHV. Great fun was had driving thru mud and water, and exploring dysfunctional trails and hills.

VIC-3 Intercom system - want to integrate cell phone into vic-3 system? what is the voodoo magic interface

I used the original top cover and screws, one less thing to print. Also, I would not use PLA or other really in-expensive plastic, it can not handle the heat during the summer. I used PAHT-CF, good stuff but it does shrink a bit so you might have to monkey with the overall size.

VIC-3 Intercom system - want to integrate cell phone into vic-3 system? what is the voodoo magic interface

sure. here is the STEP 2003 file. See if that works for you. Interesting. I can not upload stp files. but it does allow zip. here it is zipped. I have a Bambu Labs printer. if you can use the STL file i can provide that.

    AC temp adjustment thermistor?

Mogman, good ideas. I will put that on the list to get done. My next immediate action item is changing the rotors and brake pads. After i took delivery of the 1151, I found a maintenance tag from Dec 29, 2021. I bought it Dec 2022. It must have been recently decommed.

    AC temp adjustment thermistor?

SUCCESS!!!, thanks for the absolutely excellent information. RCA was low refrigerant, then it was a bad low pressure hose for the refill bottles. Once I got a new hose and better gage, took 3.4 12oz bottles of r134a to get it up to about 51psi in 106deg. Cool air flowing out of all the vents...

    AC temp adjustment thermistor?

ok, thanks. more information. I used r134a, tried to add with the compressor running. seemed to make a difference but very little was added by weight. though now the compressor stays on - it is a stagnant 107 right now other pieces of information. 1) the fan is a gear driven and it is on 2) the...

    AC temp adjustment thermistor?

I am not an AC guy. I put the pressure meter on the AC, started up, got 70+, then when the compressor kicked in, it went very low. So, I guess I need to add some fluid and perhaps watch for a leak. When the engine is off, the pressure reading is 70+, which reads high for civilian vehicles...

    AC temp adjustment thermistor?

thanks all for the quick responses. I will check the pressure in the system and see if the fan is running. should be above 105deg today, so plenty warm enough. I did "check" the pressure before but of course you all are correct.

    AC temp adjustment thermistor?

True enough. It just seems that the compressor kickin could be at a lower temp and stay on longer. Even in the 100+ degree weather, the compressor goes on-off. It is that trigger point i was wanting to change. Is there a thermistor or some temp controlled solinoid that can be mucked with to...

    AC temp adjustment thermistor?

It is hot in Texas. Is there a AC temp trigger adjustment? There are no knobs. Just on or off. Can the set point be adjusted? Asking about the newer 115x trucks.

New VIC-1 / VIC-3 Intercom to Civvy Radio Adapter Design

They are awesome adapters. If you want to interface a cellphone to a vic3, this is the easiest way to do so. I have two of his adapters in my 1151.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Those lights are a home brew. I got my parts off of amazon and 3D printed the housing. I wanted a water resistant, broad voltage input multi color and a push button on off (with memory) so that I can have them all on one color and then use the front switch to turn them all on-off and maintain...

OUT AND ABOUT WITH MY HMMWV

Went to an OHV park a couple of weeks ago with my son. had a great time. These vehicles are fairly flexible and can traverse some agressive trails. Plus, all the Jeep folks had to watch us cause what is not cool about a HMMWV out and about.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

BTW, I took a headset to the gun range as ear protection, and it really works well. they include the ambient noise function so i can hear around me but it clips the gun noise. it seems to be equivalent to a set of standard ear muffs.
