I recently acquired a DMC 1450 and though it was never military am hoping some here could help me with getting it ready for next winter. The biggest current problem is that the idler wheels, which looked great when purchased, quickly started falling apart when I tried to move it. I am assuming...
Here are a couple, the first tells you how to decode it yourself - 72-79 Dodge Truck Information
the second has a decoder to put your VIN into and it will decode it for you - Dodge Truck Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Decoder
Hopefully the info from both will agree.
I do not know what to tell you about the Army contract thing, my truck does not have OD paint hiding anywhere either. It was just rather interesting that the TACOM historian told me the contract prefix indicated it to be an Army purchase instead of an Air Force purchase.
I would assume both...
A little bit of interesting information on these ambulances. A few years ago, I contacted TACOM with the contract number to see if there was any information available on them. The history officer was not able to find anything on the contract itself but did tell me the prefix indicates the...
I just happen to have a couple photos of the Braden on my truck handy, though they are not great images. Also included a photo from another W200 that was listed on eBay a couple years ago showing the original rear configuration.
Reading back through this thread I see you said the winch on yours is a Keonig? Dodge usually used Braden winches from the factory, which is what is on the front of my truck.
It certainly was good to meet you at the Market of Marion show, your W200 looks and sounds great. You also managed to teach me a couple things about these trucks I had not known previously, thank you.
I will try to be there, but will not be able to get out of work early enough to make dinner for sure. Just one question, how is this going to be different than the existing Great Lakes MVPA chapter?
I do not remember who brought the truck, but modified exhausts are not all that uncommon, though that truck would have the exhaust stack coming up on the off side from the exhaust manifold if it is running the stock engine. Maybe someone here will remember some details about it.
Sounds like fun, we used to have winter rides years ago when some of the guys had light tracked vehicles to play with. It was very cool to see Weasels, an Otter and a Husky out on the trails.
Here are the pictures you wanted:
First is a picture of the right side from between the front wheels, Second is from the front right side, Third is from the front left side, Third is from between the wheels on the left side, Fourth is same but a slightly different angle, Fifth is from behind the...
REO actually built an 8x8 with two front steering axles on a deuce chassis in 1953. It was called an XM282 and used the power steering setup from a five ton. They made the truck a cab-over with a 15' cargo bed. The engineering that went into hanging the second front axle and making it steer...
Congratulations on acquiring a very rare vehicle in apparently very nice condition. The coil is indeed in the distributor housing, they were set up this way as part of the waterproofing of the electrical system as Gimpyrobb said. Also, oil in the air cleaner is a good thing in this case, these...
