The NOCO chargers are, in fact, genius. Highly recommended.
Yes. I do this with my RV coach all the time. A 4 x 10A charger will charge 4 batteries together as if it was a 40A charger. The NOCOs are pretty sophisticated about handling a situation like that.
Thanks. A 5-ton is outside my current envelope for a number of reasons. However, the Deuce is also pretty well suited to my use case. I already live and work fulltime as a seasonal "digital nomad" in an RV, and do not need another one, LOL. π
Adding this Deuce to my vehicle fleet π is...
I want to thank everyone for some amazing responses today, I really appreciate it! π€
I am very intrigued by the LMTV adaptation and I did some reading on the various approaches. I feel like that's a project I could do given a little time.
However, it looks like I'm going to be able to close a...
Copy that. I will call SECO tomorrow.
The JATONKA wood structure seems like a great deal, but shipping this stuff appears to be the biggest challenge with it, LOL.
Thanks, I just saw that! SECO has been turning up in a lot of my searches for various items; is this a vendor I should take seriously?
There's a guy on Ebay out of Tennessee (hdps_corp) that has the complete, in crate, NOS kit with all required hardware. For $2K. I'm seeing mid-to-high teens...
I guess I should also mention that "military reproduction" (in terms of exactness with color, treatment, etc., for a restoration) is not important for this truck. Not that I don't appreciate the restorations, but my truck is well past whatever original appearance it had, and I am adapting it to...
LOL, thanks for that info, very helpful.
I can afford a hotel room, but dang that will add up fast. I am totally good investing in a new cover kit, because I feel like that is an investment, whereas a hotel room feels like an expense.
Plus, I am only thinking of camping in the truck for 2-3...
Hey all,
While I am waiting on a few other things to come together, I want to start making plans for using my Deuce out at my property, which is currently still 100% raw land without utilities or even driveway access. One of the things I am considering (after I dismount the water tanks), is...
Hey everyone, just a late follow up here... My A3 is out of the shop with the full front bearing conversion kit to the A2 style axles.
For me, I took that decision a little hard, because despite the issues associated with the CTIS, I'd have preferred to make the decision to take it out on my...
Yes, I would like to assure everyone I have read the horror stories. π
I will absolutely make good use of these tanks, but currently I need the bed space more. So my intent at the moment is to dismount the tanks for the time being. They may even be repurposed as on-site water storage tanks. I...
Thanks so much! I got off the highway pretty quick, and luckily I was in town. Within 5 miles of noticing the steering starting to pull, I was in a Lowe's parking lot. At no time did I hear anything unusual, and definitely no screeching or other classic bearing failure sounds. So hopefully the...
Welp, I went a bought my 'starter' truck last weekend. π
I went forward with a M35A3 that seems to suit my needs pretty well. It was cheap, and it's something between turn-key and trailer project. I drove it 230 flawless miles on the way home before the right front bearings started to go. It's...
As someone who experienced a bearing failure OTR on Sunday, here is an interesting observation my co-pilot spotted...
I pulled off as soon as the truck started pulling to the right, and at first we were thinking brakes. While we were diagnosing, I tried pumping the brakes with the engine off to...
This is great, I love stunts like this so much, I just did the same thing this last weekend! Except I bought the truck in Arkansas and drove it to Texas. Everything went really well until the bearings on the right front wheel started to fail. I got within 140 miles of my truck's new home (after...
I'd like to buy @Godspeed131's M1061A1 trailer, but I am concerned that transport costs are going to eat me alive. This is ~870 mile transport, depending on how you go. Any suggestions are welcome!
Ok, this has turned into a hazing ritual, hasn't it? π
The MTVs are all sexy as hell; I'd take an LMTV in a minute if I could justify the expense; which I cannot! π
Too late!!! I drooled over those last week.
Thanks, I have taken a look at that listing.
I'm not actually building a...
Alright, you have at least convinced me to make a cursory look at 5-ton options in the market. However, I remain pretty dubious.
There are not any real hazards, other than this is in a kind of forgotten rural pocket on the edge of town, not far from traffic at all. My road is one of those...
