24v to 12v 7 blade for towing trailers

This is exactly what I did! Took about an hour and it doesn’t look the best but it works for our short 1 mile trips. Cost me about $48. Followed that diagram I had posted. Doesn’t look the best, might only last a season but I’ll come up with a gen 2 in the future

24v to 12v 7 blade for towing trailers

Ha! I would do the LEDs if I only had the one trailer. But I also kind of enjoy the learning process of stuff like this. We also have another identical truck that’s getting the same thing done over Memorial Day. We will see how this goes.

24v to 12v 7 blade for towing trailers

Definitely not going to mess with trailer brakes. If it was a longer haul I might.. but for this, no way. I just don’t want the boat or new to me camper to get rear ended by a DD.

24v to 12v 7 blade for towing trailers

The converters each have 2 wires. HOWEVER, after scouring the forums more and more, I saw someone post about 2 24v relays and one buck converter.. I bought enough of everything to try both. I will update with what I did and what works.

24v to 12v 7 blade for towing trailers

Could any of you tell me exactly what wires from my nato plug I need to use and where they go on a 7 blade.. I have read about every page on here and gotten nothing concrete. Here’s what I think. Please correct me. D-> white E-> brown M-> yellow N-> green I’ll have brake lights, turn signals...

24v to 12v 7 blade for towing trailers

I am currently one of those non DOT compliant when towing. I know the LEOs and the rangers don’t mess with us purely because if they did, they would get the calls to pull people out. They don’t wanna deal with that. However, I like to be safe and not sorry. so from what I’ve heard I can run a...

24v to 12v 7 blade for towing trailers

Copy that! Thanks for the answer! There is a couple cheaper (better looking) options out there. I do plenty of wiring but have never messed with trailer lights.

24v to 12v 7 blade for towing trailers

Making my own with something like the $50 Amazon option. Or just saying screw it and buying the $400 option.. I figure this can’t be that hard of a product to make.

24v to 12v 7 blade for towing trailers

My real question with using the converter is do I need to run a 24-12v converter on every wire or just the power and ground.. here’s my thought. Cut the nato plug wires needed for a 4 pin. Run a converter on the hot and ground. Then wire up the other 2 wires (brakes turn signal running whatever...

So essentially you use your two marine batteries as power? I have 2 lithium batteries setup for mine and solar. Happen to have pictures of your setup? Thanks

24v to 12v 7 blade for towing trailers

Yessir, good old EB. I thought about that but I’m more worried about if I hookup to other people’s going through town on a holiday weekend and the staters get me.

24v to 12v 7 blade for towing trailers

As my title mentions, I’m looking into how to convert my 24v trailer wiring system that’s on my 89 m923A2 down to a 7 blade for my camper/boat and who knows what else I might tow. I know there is an option for about $350-$400 online, I am curious if anyone else has done it, what you used and...

    M923 receiver/hitch assembly

Well my initial drawing to the welder fab guy was like most, side of the frame run grade 8 bolts as well as welding to 4x4 square tubing. I’ll be towing a 9-10k camper to the beach and back about 2 miles round trip but some rough areas through sand. Expectations were not met but he said if I can...

    M923 receiver/hitch assembly

Currently it’s for going 1 mile to the beach and back.. not long haul towing. I was a little concerned with going directly on the bottom of the frame and not on the side giving each weld 4x the amount of welding for the hitch. I appreciate the input and will send it back to the fab guy. I would...

    M923 receiver/hitch assembly

Looking for some advice from people who have done it! This is my 923 and we had someone fab up and weld on a hitch. This is what was done. Does it look strong enough to tow a 10k trailer? Thanks in advance for anyone’s reply!

M923a2 Coolant System Drain and Flush:

Good morning! I got my coolant flush done this weekend. I thought my truck was getting hot (it wasnt) I actually had bad grounding at both the trans gauge and the engine gauge. (verified with thermal gun) When i would push them against the mounting surface it would drop to normal temps. I ended...

M923a2 Coolant System Drain and Flush:

Good morning again sir! sorry to bug you with all these easy questions ha, if my tstat is bad and not opening would that cause my shutter stat to not open? I was curious if that may be the case because I see the shutter stat is on that upper radiator hose and if that t stat doesnt open maybe its...
