M151 rollover analysis? Looking for info

Eight years later: I rolled an M151 while stationed at MCB Camp Hansen, Okinawa, in 1978. I was 19 years old, and had no off road driving experience, or education. Nevertheless, I was volunteered to be a driver. I was delivering water to a mortar platoon in the field. I got lost and ended up...

Yet another CUCV charging issue: overcharging

Thanks for the input. I had a brand new alternator on the shelf: Wilson 90-01-4277. I swapped it out with the #2 unit and it stopped overcharging. I will stock a rebuild kit from now on, though.

Yet another CUCV charging issue: overcharging

This thread is about me asking for input on CUCV overcharging on the rear battery. Some folks have been extremely helpful to me, thanks to those folks.

Yet another CUCV charging issue: overcharging

I can see having the 24 volt starting system for cold weather starting, but that's it. Two of the CUCV's in our fleet have already been converted to 12 volt and have had zero issues. Like I already stated before, the CUCV charging system is unnecessarily complicated. Just because some engineer...

Yet another CUCV charging issue: overcharging

I see what you mean about the grounding issue. What about going with one 24 volt alternator to replace the two twelve volt ones?

Yet another CUCV charging issue: overcharging

Thanks for that link. What do you think of this: Ditch the stock alternators, install 2, one wire Delco 12 volt alternators. One to each battery. Install a voltmeter for each battery. Don't you think that the stock charging system is unnecassarily complicated?

Yet another CUCV charging issue: overcharging

Copy that. And if I need to replace the #2 alternator, I need to specify that it is an isolated ground unit, correct? I saw a part # from a different thread: Delco 27 SI, type 100, 100amp. Does this sound good?

Yet another CUCV charging issue: overcharging

Long time CUCV user, and fleet owner here. Went through the entire sticky thread on the CUCV charging system. Overcharging was not mentioned in it. On one of my M1008's, the rear battery is consistently boiling. Anyone here seen this before? Is this a clear cut case of the voltage regulator on...

    CUCV engine stalls on deceleration

    Try raising the idle speed?

    CUCV engine stalls on deceleration

I turned up the idle speed, and can make the engine not stall. It is faster than stock, but doable. I'm going to drive it awhile to see how it feels. Thanks for the advice albersondh.

    CUCV engine stalls on deceleration

I have a good, used injection pump on the shelf. I'm thinking of swapping it out. Do you think this is a good option?

    CUCV engine stalls on deceleration

Just like in the title, the CUCV engine stalls on deceleration, but otherwise runs good and starts easily. The TM says to look in the governor area for binding linkage or black residue from the governor weights? Didn't find either of those things upon inspection under the governor cover. Any...

The reason you tow your m1009 home not drive

We have a commercial account there, so the pricing may be different for the general public. You should go on their website and give Mark Boyce a call.

The reason you tow your m1009 home not drive

Got my M1008 from Boyce Equipment in Ogden, UT. Drove it from there, just about to Canada, with zero problems. Probably about 800 miles. It's the ninth CUCV I've bought from there.

I figured out why my Glow plugs are swollen...

In our CUCV fleet, we have installed a manual glow plug switch in all but one rig. We have had no glow plug problems since. The manual switch, however, can be abused by an operator that doesn't care about his truck, or is ignorant of it's proper operation.

    M1008 Radio rack?

Yeah, it's pretty heavy and bulky.

    M1008 Radio rack?

Thanks for the reply! I have no need for the radio rack. Do you think anyone would have any interest in it? I'd hate to scrap it out, if someone needs it.

    M1008 Radio rack?

I recently acquired a M1008 CUCV that has what appears to be an aluminum shelving unit mounted in the bed, behind the cab. There is also an electrical distribution box mounted to the shelving unit. Any ideas what this is, or what it was used for. Thanks.

    M1008 Tires

I am running 9.00 x 16" tires with no lift. The tires are about 35" tall. I had to do minor inner fender trimming on the front.

    I can't drive 55!!!

How does it do under a load? Like when you're climbing a steep hill? Is it RPM related?
