Best Option to haul tracked excavator behind M931A2?

For 30k you will want an RGN low deck. That is a big excavator IMO. F plates can get away with a lot, but simple physics will tell you that heavy weight on the pintle hook will off weight the steering axle. Where placing weight on a properly located 5th plate will not. Dont run it in low range...

LVS info? Focused on the MK-48 and it's RBUs.

Do the TMs have gear ratios? I always thought they were what the civilian world called a "service manual", more so than a specification and capacity manual. But I'll figure out how to work thru one if I find the right one.

LVS info? Focused on the MK-48 and it's RBUs.

Thanks. That's the same problem I am having. It does not seem to be an easy bit of info to find.

LVS info? Focused on the MK-48 and it's RBUs.

Hi all. I found while searching here, that most threads about the LVS system were posted here in 5 ton and up. So I hope it's ok to ask another question about them? I did find a very detailed spec page listed here back in 2008 I think it was, for the MK48. It gave the axle brand as Eaton and...

    flotation tire's

Ya, I imagine war is easy on'm. For my use, I am not pulling a 30 ton trailer with whatever support eq thru ruts and rocks like the truck was made to do. I'm just motoring along over wet soils with a couple ton of pesticide. And,...going down the road at about 35mph, it handles fine. I thought I...
  6. Excuse Me

    flotation tire's

Would duals work? I am running dual 14.00s on one of my 931s.
  7. Excuse Me

M939 transfer case air lines installed wrong

Wow. Awesome thread. I tried my best to read each reply, but sometimes, I have to admit, my brain just can not catalog all the good points. So please forgive me if I ask a repeat question. As I understand from this thread, those that do not want "auto engage" when going into low can remove the...
  8. Excuse Me

Dual 14.00 and 16.00s on my 931s. Pics

The rear most axle has a turnbuckle on each side and slipper springs. So tension is pretty easy. Release the tension and remove the outside set of tires, and the tracks are easily removed and installed.
  9. Excuse Me

Dual 14.00 and 16.00s on my 931s. Pics

To save some time, I'll link to a picture thread of the build parts of the 16.00s on the rear axle here. this is how they attach. And a couple of them on the rear most axle. If this works, then I will put them on the front driver as well. Then I bought an extra pair of 14.00s for the...
  10. Excuse Me

How to respond to unsupportive comments?

I have to say that I am a bit confused. A person that owns a military truck gets feelings hurt from a couple comments? I mean to each their own and all that. But just seems a conflict of attitude is all. But when comments are made about my 931s, I just say "it's people like you that are the...
  11. Excuse Me

    Got my second 931. (pics)

I'm now the proud owner of two M931s. Just received the one on 16.00s and had a couple spacers around so I added them to the front driver and flipped the rear drivers to inset. Yes, they do rub a small bit when cornering, but for now, they will work just fine. I need the flotation is why. I have...
  12. Excuse Me

    My M931 with tracks.

I dont really know. I'd think that perhaps some of the oil field transports could use something like it, but they may require newer vehicles that meet other standards etc. Utilities that maintain towers and stuff out in the woods and places that are not accessable with wheeled rigs should be...
  13. Excuse Me

    My M931 with tracks.

I have a hitch plate for the back end that will have several 2.5" receiver tubes for any hitch height. I left the truck as close to original as I could. I plan to leave the 24volt light plug and all just as it is and run led lights on the equipment. I have a 60 amp 24/12 volt reducer that I am...
  14. Excuse Me

    My M931 with tracks.

I built the rig in my avitar picture back in 2002. It was dubbed "Donzilla" by my friends. I have dismantled it and reconfigured much of the parts for project "Toyzilla". I'll locate my toyzilla pics later. But ya, slippage can be an issue, and time will tell how bad it is with this rig. I...
  15. Excuse Me

    My M931 with tracks.

Yes, the guide blocks in the center of the track belts is for tracking only. Drive power is friction on front and rear. The rear track belts are from a caterpillar 65 farm tractor. They are heavily reinforced belts with cables and webbing. The fronts are basically conveyor belting with traction...
  16. Excuse Me

    My M931 with tracks.

To hopefully avoid the time to upload the pics to yet another site, here's a link to my thread I just put up with pictures of my 931 on tracks so far. If it dont work, say so and I will try to upload the pics here somehow in full size. Thanks. There are some previous pic of it some where...

40' semi trailer ID? Picture included.

Thanks so much Stonepicker for those pics and information. Those tie down hoops look interesting.
  18. Excuse Me

40' semi trailer ID? Picture included.

Holy wow !!! So it might be overloaded hauling a spare tire ?!:) I had no idea it was THAT!! heavy. I still cant seem to find the TM number listed previously. But I did find Olive Drab has some interesting info on all the model differences. Thanks.
  19. Excuse Me

40' semi trailer ID? Picture included.

Awesome. Thanks for the TM help. I'll check that out.
  20. Excuse Me

40' semi trailer ID? Picture included.

Thanks for the very fast replies. The trailer is in Idaho and I am in Oregon. Maybe interested in it, but wanted to find the actual model and look around for info on them before I make the drive. I dont need 3 axles though. But if the trailer is in very good condition, which I think it is, I...
