The starter issue is why I wanted to put a manual trans in mine but my wife said no to that, she wants to be able to drive the vehicle too and although she can drive a manual fine; the M1010 does not have "hill-hold" and she worries about city traffic on hills with a big box on the back. I am...
I just reviewed above and it was you who trimmed the front and fit a 35" tire. I'm running 33.5" on my suburban with just a slight alteration on the rear of the front fenders and have had no trouble. I may leave that for another day as I just put the 33" on my M1010. I probably should have...
I don't plan on lifting if I don't have to and crossover sounds like it requires a lift so that's probably out and my four wheeling is just access roads and some woods/fields with wet tracks. I just don't like to get stuck. Seems like somewhere I read on here that you can go to 35" tires on...
I am wanting to add a second tank (passenger side) to my M1010 and am looking for the fuel filler pipe, hoses, protection on the inside of the box and the outside door.....also a skid plate and attachment hardware for the second fuel tank.
Anyone have this stuff available?
Did you use a second bracket to make two into one or did you just add some steel to the cut adjuster? I am considering taking the charging system to 12 VDC vs the 24VDC. Most of the kitchen and A/C stuff uses 12 VDC. I could leave the second alternator in there as a spare and just carry the...
Chevymike, If I am reading this right, you have the 2.5" reverse shackle on the back of your rig or was that your old rig? How did you find the handling with it added? Also, did you put crossover steering on your M1010? How much did you have to lift the front to have it fit? How did you do...
I'd love to see some pictures of the roof. Do you walk on it? Solar panels? Plywood seems like it would be heavy....? I like the diamond plate idea......Maybe glue foam to the roof and then glue diamond plate to the foam.I'm planning a RV with mine and think I will pull the walls to verify...
"It required a little bit of grinding on the cases to make them work with the adjusting bracket."
Where did you grind on the Leece-Neville alternators? Pictures. I can't get my belts tight! What belts did you use?
Looking into a gear swap looks like I would have to change out the carriers, gears and the lockers too.
Currently I have:
Front Axle: Dana 60 4.56:1 ratio. Comes with PowerTrax 2620-LR Lock Right locker.
Rear Axle: 10.5 in Corporate 14 Bolt 4.56:1 ratio. Comes with a Detroit Locker.
My...
Nope, the OP did mean 6060 for a M1010 camper build. I am wanting to be able to do highway speeds and some off road but nothing hard....just don't want to get stuck. The truck has the TH400 in it now and will only do 55 mph without over revving the engine on the road. I do want to be able to...
I'm in full agreement with you on the price. Sounds like you also have to be careful what transmission version you get plus need to be able to do programming after install. I don't know how to do that at this point but sure would like a 6 speed vs the 4 speed. I'm looking for a late model...
The 4.56 axles should work well with either a 6L80E or a TR6060 without the need to also change the axles. Yes, a bit faster on the high endwith the 4.10 but I think a top speed of 85-90 is plenty for a truck this size. If I just change the axles i'd be getting about 50 mph in top gear with...
Mike, I missed this on the first pass for some reason. The CUCV's are PASSENGER SIDE drop for the transfer case. I'm still looking for a better highway speed and think something in the .65-.63 range would be best. Are you having any luck with an OD transmission? My wife wants it to be an...
I have pulled the ambulance beds, steel racks in front of the beds, diesel heater and rolling seat for medic. Probably too far to ship to CA but they are available. I am installing a second 20 gal fuel tank now and looking into OD options as 55 at red line is too slow.
I'm thinking I would have bought a gas truck if I wanted gas besides my engine only has 19K miles on it but I hear you. The LS would be quieter for sure.
