    Replacing ignition lock cylinder M1009

Old post but same problem.....I had the steering wheel off, the blinker mechanism off and there was no pin to be removed and no place I could see that needed to be broken out. Here is a picture of what I saw. Meanwhile I put it back together to wait for information. Any idea what I do from...

New to me 1984 M1010 Engine Question #1

I finally got the tank from LMC. It actually showed up pretty fast but took me a few days to get back to the shop to install it. I got it in, bled the lines and it started right up with about 5 seconds on the glow plugs. I have not taken it for a spin yet but I am hoping that this finally...

    1983 M35A2C Brake Fluid Disappears

OK so I did find a leak in a brake line and replaced it and have had no trouble since. That was a few years ago.

New to me 1984 M1010 Engine Question #1

I did blow out the lines while I was replacing the lift pump but I like your idea of air in the tank to pre-prime. Thanks.

Parts location 6.2 lift pump supply line

Lots has happened since my last post. I tried to bring it home 3X and it failed 3X a few miles from the shop. I have now pulled the tank and found some nasty stuff in there along with a bad sending unit so that is on order from LMC. I could not get a good picture of the inside of the tank...

New to me 1984 M1010 Engine Question #1

One can hope. Tank and sender are ordered. Time will tell! Have a good weekend!

New to me 1984 M1010 Engine Question #1

That's a good idea for sure. I pulled the tank today and found a lot of junk coating the tank and sending unit. Looked like a combination of rust and old, old fuel. The new fuel I had put in there doesn't look new anymore and is a little red colored. Most likely part rust and part Marvel...

New to me 1984 M1010 Engine Question #1

I ran the PM tests on the lift pump....I got 6 psi and almost a liter of fuel in a 13-15 second turn of the engine so I am thinking the lift pump is good. I have fuel. I hot wired the fuel cutoff solenoid to the battery and tried again. It died again in a few minutes on the road. It still...

New to me 1984 M1010 Engine Question #1

That is something that I will look into first. I suppose I could wire up a light in the cab using power from that wire and see if it was flashing or out when the engine dies. A friend suggested to just hot wire that solenoid from the battery and see if it quits....same test different way of...

    M1010 DUVAC Removal Plan "B"

DUVAC removed and the new alternators installed. Wiring complete and the truck is running. Still has a fuel issue but hoping to get that sorted out on Thursday. I pulled the harness while I had the injector pump out and think I have all the wires disconnected that are not needed. I did have...

New to me 1984 M1010 Engine Question #1

So, update is in order. I swapped in the new injection pump and got it started again after a long ordeal with the water drain on the filter housing leaking and letting fuel out and air into the system so much so that I could not get it primed. I got the leak fixed and the pump primed and it...

New to me 1984 M1010 Engine Question #1

Thanks for the input but I did not ask what you thought of Marvel Mystery Oil. Turns out the weep hole in the injection pump was leaking fuel so I ordered a pump. IT is in today but not yet started. Time will tell if that was my whole issue.

    M1010 DUVAC Removal Plan "B"

I know it's an old thread but I have a few questions. I just acquired a 1984 M1010. The charging system works fine but I had a M1009 for 18 years and it was so much simpler then the M1010 system and I want my M1010 to be simple. I was in the process of replacing the injection pump and decided...

Cant find anything about keeping M1008 rear payload + shackle flip= front spring size

Thanks for the update. I put 33" tires on it and they fit fine without any suspension changes but I am interested in what your thoughts are after you get the ORD 2.5 flip kit in.

New to me 1984 M1010 Engine Question #1

It ran great till I tried to drive it home.....50 miles. I got about 5 miles into the trip and it died....no fuel. Started right back up and drove another mile and it died again...no fuel. It did this several times and got harder and harder to get started again. I got it turned around headed...

Parts location 6.2 lift pump supply line

Lots of good ideas here. Thanks. I am headed up tomorrow to work on it. I have a new lift pump in hand since while I am fixing the expected leak I am going to replace the 40 year old pump too. The engine was running fine until I started driving it above 25 mph and started starving for fuel...

Parts location 6.2 lift pump supply line

That looks a lot like the 6.2 line for sure. Thanks for that information.

Parts location 6.2 lift pump supply line

That is disappointing! Any idea what corvette? What do people that need this line do without a replacement?
