Hey guys, been a while. Figured I'd show off where I'm at with the 1008

Hmm, sure you dont just want $1000 for the GV so your projects axles were free :D

Hey guys, been a while. Figured I'd show off where I'm at with the 1008

Phew $3400 for a complete GV setup. But it sounds like it will be perfect. Effectively it keeps the engine in its "power band" when towing. It'd also be great to split first and second on a downhill in low range. So many options, and these things are bullet proof. They said they've done alot of...

And yea True Knight, I was beginning to think I'm the only So cal truck here!

Hey guys, been a while. Figured I'd show off where I'm at with the 1008

Thanks for all the info guys. Cliffyp I think I'm shying away from the 700r4 as I tow some pretty heavy trailers when I'm going out to play. Still debating between the gear vendor or 4l80 swap. As per usual, the craigslist guy with the 4 4l80's is taking forever to respond. Also found a 4l80...

Hey guys, been a while. Figured I'd show off where I'm at with the 1008

Ok sounds like I have some homework to do. I'm looking around trying to see what's the best option that's going to remain as fiscally responsible (CHEAP) as possible. I think the 700r4 is too much effort for a transmission that just isn't strong enough. It's down to the gear vendor or 4l80...

Hey guys, been a while. Figured I'd show off where I'm at with the 1008

found two for sale locally. I think the 95 makes more sense #1 out of a 1995 subrban 4x4. It has a new torque converter, ran perfect when pulled. No transfer case adapter. asking $300 #2 out of a 1994 3500 4x4. Leaking front seal. Was slipping when pulled(don't know if it's the tranny or...

Hey guys, been a while. Figured I'd show off where I'm at with the 1008

Hmm so what were saying is it's kind of a pain in the ole posterior no matter which route we go, huh? Well must be worth it. And again a gear vendor has to be shifted by hand? It does kind of sound like a 4L80 with a computer is the easiest way to deal with this. That or some kind of stick...

Hey guys, been a while. Figured I'd show off where I'm at with the 1008

And a 700r4 is a direct swap, minus the torque converter?

Hey guys, been a while. Figured I'd show off where I'm at with the 1008

Copy thanks. Now a 4l80 requires a computer right? But input/ output shafts and overall length are all the same? What about a gear vendor?

Hey guys, been a while. Figured I'd show off where I'm at with the 1008

Also is a 700r4 a basic swap, and is it strong enough to handle the torque of a turbo'd motor?

Hey guys, been a while. Figured I'd show off where I'm at with the 1008

Wow just read that post. Flippin iPhone loves to change as much text as possible! So you really think the 6.2 with turbo and an OD will suffice?

Hey guys, been a while. Figured I'd show off where I'm at with the 1008

Yea I gave up on towing much. My flatbed with quads and gear is about it. I am considering the turbo, just not sure if it's gonna be enough. Maybe just a iOS quality bug block instead.

Thanks! And I really dig that front bumper. Was that a custom unit?

Hey guys, been a while. Figured I'd show off where I'm at with the 1008

What's really funny is if you look at the pic of the camo on the passenger side just forward of the rear wheel, the black camo makes the shape of a howling dog. Must have been completely subconscious because I painted it all myself and didn't spot it til someone pointed it out almost 6 months...

Aha good catch. That's my partner Gunner.

Hey guys, been a while. Figured I'd show off where I'm at with the 1008

Now I finished up my ORD crossover steering kit, which I waited WAY to long to do, and picked up a set of zero rate add a leaves to move the front axle forward an inch or so. That'll cure my rubbing problem. Then I can clean up the wheel well cuts and get some new rubber. Now I think I'm...

Next I dropped on some KC's that i found new in the box for $40! Thankfully I had my little helper to assist with wiring, and hitting the horn every time daddy went under the hood. Well at least she has my sense of humor ;-)

It's not a DD, just a desert bomber, trail raider, and toy hauler, not to mention pride and joy :D Well I decided I wanted to go 37's for sure, when a friend of mine called me with the old "Come here, come quick, and bring cash!" call. He found a set of 38" swamper SSR's in good shape for $400...
