Thanks, I could make a day trip out of that, and take the wife up to the lake and score some points. Side note, years ago I got to tour the coal loader when Norfolk Southern was running their steam excursions full time back in the 90's. It was pretty fascinating how they lifted and flipped a...
Can someone give me the dimensions for the rear rubber mud flaps on an M35A2?? The ones I have on there were for a commercial vehicle, and are a bit oversized. I have access to some smooth rubber conveyor belt material that I think would work great, and look more authentic. And what's the...
Anybody know of a brick and mortar tire dealer in or near Ohio that sells and installs 9:00=20 NDT's?? Miller tire can't get any right now. I'm looking for someplace close enough to take the old tires to, shipping is too expensive. Coker down in Chattanooga is a bit of a drive for me, I'd...
I think that may have been to have some sound proofing quality, like acoustical tiles. This may be especially true if the material is a fibrous material instead of solid. But it's clearly only going to knock off a few decibels in a deuce.
Hey while I'm at it, I'm lettering my deuce for my old unit, which was an Ohio NG infantry brigade. Other that the left rear bumperette, did the OHARNG designation appear anywhere else, like on the left front bumper?? I know the 73 BDE would go there, but is the Ohio Guard stencil just on the...
When I bought my deuce it had an upright muffler on it, I'm restoring it to it's original configuration, so I've replaced it with the standard setup. I have the J pipe, muffler, attachment bracket, and the exhaust pipe. It just needs one clamp to be complete I think. Free, but you must pick...
I got a bid from a body shop for prepping and painting my deuce with Rapco paint. I'm supplying the paint, they're doing everything else. It's not in too bad of condition, and I told them I'm not looking for a museum quality job. They quoted me $3500, which I think is a really good deal. I'm...
So I came up with a way to deal with this issue. I planed some oak pieces down to 2 1/2x 7/8x16" (one I planed down to 3/4" thick because one of the pockets was dented in and narrower). Then I put a pan head screw in the center of one end. Before cutting them down to 16" long, I put the piece...
Yep, just like that. I just scraped off the biggest chunks of paint that were flaking, and shot some OD green spray paint to camouflage the dirt and rust for the Veteran's Day parade this Sunday. I'll probably move that tire to the inside or switch it out as I have several spares.
At least one of the rims on my deuce has rivets in it, when did they switch to a welded rim? Mine is a '71. I'll be going through all the rims and tires this winter to clean an paint them, I have a few spares, so I might switch that one out. Just wondering how old that rim is. It does have a...
Digging up an old thread here, but our maintenance section had our parts and tool deuce with extra tall bows. We had parts and tool cabinets in it, and the rear end was actually framed in with 2x4's and plywood, with a steel door like you'd have for a house framed in. There was steel mesh on...
