VA General liability ins for HMMWV

Steve, I have been doing this stuff for so many years now that I can't remember when I started or to whom I I have shared stuff in the past. The funniest part of the last line is due to the beekeeper reference. Much of my aviation experience remains shrouded in mystery due to the nature of the...

VA General liability ins for HMMWV

Why are you not using the Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Company? The $40 per year membership fee is but "chump change" in the scheme of things. All my military vehicles are insured with them. I have a couple of dozen trucks with them. The Farm Use tags here are good for 7500 miles usage per...

Questions about my m54 5 ton.

Thanks for the info. When I first found the truck, I located a clean new hard copy of the Mack engine TM. After all these years, it is a bit dog-eared but still viable. I found files and printed out the remaining truck TMs and mounted them in binders. I appreciate your suggestion

Questions about my m54 5 ton.

The reason I ask, Mack had the contract from 1959 to 1966. If your truck is a 1968, odds are, it is an M54A2 with a multifuel engine. Transmission info would be helpful. It will either have a "direct drive" or an "over drive" version of the Spicer tranny. Do the data plates show any sort of...

Terry Neal, (703-631-1333) has a complete, new NOS hot water heater that was made for the M139 series of trucks. I am confident he is willing to sell.

What fuels do you run your turbines on?

The bullet-proof choices are: Jet-A is the easiest to buy at your local airport that services jet aircraft. JP-4 or JP-8 works great but it is not readily available in the public domain.

    Reflectors or no reflectors?

In the NATO member countries, these additional reflectors are added to the mud flaps of MVs for extra visibility when approaching from the rear. These same reflectors on the 2.5 & 5-ton trucks are four times as large on each rear mud flap. They truly light up the truck at night.

How rare are M54s vs M35s?

I purchased my M54A1 from the Army Reserve Unit in Lawrence Township NJ in 2015. It was a 1965 that was rebuilt in 1975 in include the lastest 673 engine, ungraded Spicer Trans, the newer M809 steering, and other upgrades. The rebuilt machine arrived with two other M54A1s in 1975. They remained...

    M35a3 can wheels be flipped?

I totally agree with you regarding the use of a 5-ton. What IS the solution is found below... Its a 1965 M54A1 with a complete 1975 rebuild including the 5-speed Spicer, M809 steering, new Mack axles, and the last version of the Mack ENDT-673 engine kicking out 220 HP. I did a cab-off rebuild in...

    M35a3 can wheels be flipped?

The solution I used was to go to 10-wheels mounted on 11 X 20 Goodyear G177s or the current equivalent. See my M35A3 below thatI have used for the last twelve years. The singles wore out in 2014. You can flip the hubs (OR NOT) to make the duels work for you. In my case, I flipped the hubs as I...
