    NOS 4HN batteries

These are the correct batteries for the MEP-701 and MEP-016 series Gensets. Maybe others that I am not aware of also.

    NOS 4HN batteries

Wow, great deal! I paid north of $130 for one of these locally last year.

    MEP-701 / MEP-016 Glow Plug

Hey Ddink, glad I could contribute. Oil pressure was what was causing the solenoid to cut the engine off. Run it for a bit while holding the solenoid and see if it starts to activate after a couple of minutes. Make sure to use ear protection as this will also make you deaf.

    MEP-701 / MEP-016 Glow Plug

I had a couple of these that I went rounds with. Try compressing the fuel cutoff solenoid (looks like a little piston right next to the injection pump) when you start it. On mine, I did all sorts of things to get it running, but the lack of oil pressure in the right places kept it from...

M116A2 Rusted Master Cylinder - Total loss?

Thanks guys. I was under the trailer yesterday and all of the lines are intact, I just don't know if the lines are rusted inside. No idea about the wheel calipers either. Anyone ever had to rebuild/replace calipers on these? Is it worth doing?

M116A2 Rusted Master Cylinder - Total loss?

I bought an M116A2 trailer from GL in January and have just gotten around to messing with it. I opened the fluid reservoir to check the level and it was bone dry (no water, no brake fluid) with a bunch of rust inside. Even the passages are rusted closed. I'm thinking the MC will need to be...

    No EUC required on MEPs

Last month I bought an M116a2 trailer with 2 MEP-701a gensets mounted on it and I didn't need an EUC. I didn't realize that the requirement wasn't there until the day after I won the lot. Anyway, just wanted to double confirm this.

Won My First GL Genset Trailer

I did some rudimentary testing on the power output on these sets using the convenience outlets on the front connected to a 1500 watt room heater. I am a better mechanic (still less than decent :-P) than electrician. On genset #1 I am having trouble keeping the Hertz at a constant 60 as it...

Won My First GL Genset Trailer

Ok, here's an update: I ran the battery low by cranking over the second generator. For some reason, It wouldn't keep fuel prime. I ordered a Schumaker 24v battery charger off of Amazon and got a chance to crank the genset over yesterday. At first, I had the same priming issue, but after...

Won My First GL Genset Trailer

Just exchanged some emails with Mike from onangeneratorpartsplusmore.com and I found that the part number on the solenoid is 307-2386. I did a search and didn't come up with anything. I'll be researching the circuit function on this solenoid tonight so that I can figure out if it's acting...

Won My First GL Genset Trailer

Rickf, your post solved my issue. after you mentioned the shutdown solenoid, I went into a research frenzy to figure out what that was. All it took was for me to go out, prime the fuel, compress the fuel cutoff solenoid (figure 7-1 on page 129 in TM 05926B/06509B-34/3), and it came to life in...

Won My First GL Genset Trailer

Just found a good lead on Onan New Old Stock (NOS) parts. It seems that the glow plugs (onan#333-0242) are obsolete without replacement, but can be found here: onangeneratorpartsplusmore.com - Home Again, I'm looking to provide a good source of information for those who come behind me.

Won My First GL Genset Trailer

Hey Rick, duly noted on the epoxy, though from the looks of it, this came from the factory with epoxy in the same spot. I guess we found out how well that worked out though. I am not getting smoke at all while cranking. I am thinking my next step is to test the compression and have the...

    MEP-016A - Oil Question

I just read something (can't remember where right now) that said that 15w-40 was the correct weight for these. That's what I just put in mine.

Hi Manstein, did you ever get these functioning properly? I am having issues with my Onan powered set.

Won My First GL Genset Trailer

Ok, further update: I cracked the fuel line on the top of the injector (like I do on my Mercedes 300TD) and cranked the motor over to see if I could get anything to spray out. I'm not getting much at allexcept for a little seepage. Should this be spraying out like I'm used to? If this is...

Won My First GL Genset Trailer

The epoxy seemed to work, but now I can'te get the bugger started again. I put everything back together, filled it back up with oil and tried to start it. No dice. I then pulled the glow plug, cleaned the connectors and verified that it was working. I then pulled the air filter completely off to...

Won My First GL Genset Trailer

Thanks Isaac. I see some air filters, but I'll keep looking for oil and fuel filters on ebay. I go the generator running for a few seconds today! I shut it down when I noticed that all my oil was spewing out onto the floor. Turns out that the connectors on the oil cooler are bad. There are...

Won My First GL Genset Trailer

Just did some research on part numbers. From what I read, the below part numbers are identical filters and they work on the MEP-016B and MEP-701a. Napa Gold 1378 Wix 51378 The fuel filters are 4330-01-275-2460 and can be bought from Southernautomotive.com...
