    Really need help! Completely dead.

I'm having trouble getting my 1009 to start. It cranks but doesn't catch. Can you describe this pink wire on the front of the engine better? Does it plug in front of the air cleaner?

    Glow plug module removal

Only vaguely on topic but can you point me to the instructions you used to wire the switch?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Replaced the glowplugs and glow plug relay. It would run before but I had to jump it everytime. Now the engine cranks but does not catch. I'm pretty sure the glow plug system is working because smoke comes out of the tail pipes when I'm cranking it. The engine wont catch even if I'm jumping it...

    86 CUCV Blazer(still 24v); Batteries completely discharged

Still 24v truck. -Connected the batteries, started the truck, reading 11.6v across the front battery. Which is normal since the GPs should stay on for like a minute after starting, right? -Turned the truck off(key in off position), still reading 11.6v across the front battery. -Disconnected...

    86 CUCV Blazer(still 24v); Batteries completely discharged

Drivers side alternator confirmed good at autozone. Started the truck, reading 12.20v across the front battery posts and 14.7 across the rear battery posts. Which means there is some sort of drain on the front battery? The glowplug circuit runs off the front battery, correct? I'm leaning...

    86 CUCV Blazer(still 24v); Batteries completely discharged

I got the kit in and rebuilt the alternator today. Put the alternator back in, got it adjusted so the belts don't squeal under throttle. But I'm still having problems... 1) The Gen lights turn on when I turn the key to run and go off when I start but the volts gauge doesn't make it into the...

    86 CUCV Blazer(still 24v); Batteries completely discharged

Got the drivers side alternator tested; bad voltage regulator. That should explain why the the front battery dies overnight, right? What's the recommended replacement?

    86 CUCV Blazer(still 24v); Batteries completely discharged

Fair enough. I charged the batteries last night. Took them off the charger and put them in the truck and fired it up. BVG still reading below the tick mark. Should I leave them in the truck and see if the problem repeats itself(I'm pretty sure this is no because discharging car batteries is bad...

    86 CUCV Blazer(still 24v); Batteries completely discharged

To answer a couple of questions: Dashlights: All the idiot lights on the dashboard light up when the system is charged and the key is in but the engine is not running. The last time I started it all of the idiot lights went out once the vehicle was started. The battery volts gauge reads below...

    86 CUCV Blazer(still 24v); Batteries completely discharged

Been having some electrical issues with this truck. I started with the simplest thing and got the older of the batteries tested, it was bad, so I bought a new redtop and put it in. Fired up on the first crank yesterday, let it idle for 15mins, and everything seemed good. The alternator lights...

Looking at picking up a CUCV

Thanks to all these posts I figured out we weren't shifting out of 4Hi correctly. We were trying to do it parked and not rolling. As far as the spare parts go: I think he got them through the guy be bought the truck from. About the only thing officially bad with the truck are glow plugs, weak...

Looking at picking up a CUCV

I'm looking at an 86 CUCV Blazer but I had some questions/concerns first. 1) Kind of a rough shift from 1-2. Maybe that's how th400s shift. Kind of a thunk. 2) Difficult to get out of 4wd. 3) Rust in both rockers, one rear fender and the bed. The frame looks solid, some surface rust. The...
