On my first trip to Iraq (2003) one of our company supply sgts (Rhode Island Guard) had a 1008 with a cap. on our way up to baghdad he got 2 flats and only had 1 spare. we chained it to the bumper of a duece and towed it into scania and managed to get tires for it. he drove it from falluja...
I'll keep it stock. It runs and looks pretty good the way it sits, plus I'm kinda broke at the moment. I did put it in a Memorial Day parade when I first picked it up.
It was a long drive I took 2 days drive time. 60 mph 62 on the down hill portions. The truck drove good and my fuel economy wasnt too bad. I am glad that I won't be doing that again soon.
I want to thank bobr for all of his assistance in indianna. Not only was I able to store my truck a few days but also was able to get a few needed parts.
i just won a bid on a 5 ton in indianapolis and need to get her to jersey. i recieved an estimate from fast track for over 1000 more than i paid for the truck. if i dont get a reasonable price i may just drive out and pick it up and drive it home.. Any advice or help will be appreciated. Thanks

Easy fix as long as the bolt did not break off in the shaft. Harmonic ballancer should be relatively inexpensive although I haven't bought one in a while. The bolt a few bucks at most. then just put it on. Make sure you torque it to the specs. good luck
I find that most CUCVs have under 100,00 miles. I also found that the injector pump is not too difficult to replace. I run a banks sidewinder turbo on my 86 and see a huge difference in performance and fuel consumption. The original 6.2s had some issues that were worked out by the mid 80s...
