Well, good to see the progress! Congratulations on getting things done. And I am late to the party, but Welcome!

    M715 hood numbers

And this is the 1968 truck that I drove in Germany. Note the different markings.

    M715 hood numbers

Here is the 1967 truck that I drove in 1969. You can see the numbering scheme.

    M725 radiator

If you have an original core, they can be fixed easily. However, if it is missing as they say, "All bets are off". My radiator was good for a few years and then started leaking. I got a local vintage radiator shop, you know the ones with the big tanks and old guys working there, to put a new...

Operation Urgent Restoration II The M715

HERESY! I love the 230 Tornado. However, I drove one for two years when I was in the army so I guess I a little biased, 'ya think?

save M715 original or making it practical ?

I know that this thread is growing whiskers. It has taken me years to accumulate the parts but mine is mostly original. I removed "improvements" done by previous owners. I do need to paint etc. but that is a work in progress. As you can see, I am strictly "Stock".

oil pressure, how low too low

My truck is in Florida and I run Rotella 15W40 all year. The oil pressure starts out at 55-60 pounds and does not drop below 30 pounds at idle. The engine has 14,000 miles on it.

    First Ride in M715!

That looks great and I can certainly identify with that first ride. When I drove my truck for the first time in 40 some years, what a thrill. If you are on "The Zone", you may have seen the video that I posted of a friend who drove my truck for the first time since he was in Germany in the 70s...

    Looking at my first 715

BTW, my name is Don Cavey. I frequent the M715 Zone a lot. I am presently visiting my daughter and family in Melbourne, Australia. That puts me thousands and thousands of miles away from my truck. So, I am at a disadvantage to walk right out to the garage and check my truck for answers! I love...

    Looking at my first 715

I would be the guilty member that has a picture of the M715 going rather fast. I would not do it today and kinda regret abusing the truck back in 1970. But today, I am a stock person who wants it to go, drive, sound and smell like it did back in 1970. They are designed as mentioned to go at...

    M715 Front disc brake conversion

Exactly. If everything is up to snuff, meaning good steel lines, not crudded up or corroded, good rubber flex lines that have not collapsed internally (and acting like a valve!) and good shoes. You don't want the lining to peel off of the metal base.

    M715 Front disc brake conversion

Bob, you missed the whole point of my conversation. Redundant means that you have two separate and independent systems. So, if one fails, you still have the other one!!!!

    M715 Front disc brake conversion

I have stock brakes, as stock as it can be. New riveted shoes in the front, like-new used in the back. New wheel cylinders, new master cylinder, new rubber hoses and new steel tubing. I can honestly say that the truck does not pull to either side and will slide the tires. Now, I don't have a...

    M715 Front disc brake conversion

For what it's worth, my M715 has an NOS original single master cylinder, four new wheel cylinders, new steel lines of the correct original size, new shoes in the front and very serviceable shoes in the back. Now I don't tow and haul a lot of stuff. But I have no problem stopping. I drove a two...

    Need Bumper shackles...D rings

I got mine from Snake River and they are excellent. I don't know if he still has them. You may want to give him a call.

    M725 resto

I have to agree that it really looks nice. We had one at our field site in Blanding, UT. Unfortunately, yours truly took it for a ride in the desert and actually split the Dana front axle center section from "jumping" it. I have gotten a little older now and sometimes think how stupid that was...

    Transmission and Transfercase oil

Nate, The LO 9-2320-244-12 specifies 90 weight. I believe when I was in the army it was called "GO-90". Not something special. It specifies 80 weight for the winter...

    M715 Coil

BTW, the TM shows a ballast resistor under the coil. I have an NOS ignitor, in the box and it does NOT have a ballast resistor.

    M715 Coil

The one in my truck was chrome (most likely from China) and when it got warm, it crapped out. I got a used coil from a vendor in PA ($60) and was happy to pay it. Seems to have fixed the problem.

    Added a M715 W/W to the fleet.

Very, very nice and congratulations. Glad that the truck has gone to someone who appreciates it.
