You mentioned you replaced ONE pump? Did you manage to get that other one bent back straight? I would do the test Lucky is mentioning and if one is hanging u that bent one would be the one I pull.
Seems to me that is inviting an oil leak from a worn through pushrod tube. I would space it away from the tube using a feeler gauge to get the exact same on each one. You only need a few thousandths clearance to prevent abrasion.
Do not try to hook up one 12 volt charger to both batteries at once, You will let out a lot of magic smoke from the charger! What you can do is get a marine charger that is set up for multiple battery banks.
I have been following this since the first post and I have noticed that said there was smoke coming from the generator head. Granted the injectors were part of the problem but you might want to try to see where that smoke came from without starting it back up and letting the rest of the magic...
I was wondering about that, A copper rod is no match for huge rocks. You think you are going deeper when in fact the rod is just folding up against he rock.
Think about this, every time it rains and you are driving the fan is pulling in and spraying water all over the engine compartment. You do need to be careful with pressure washers, none of these components were designed to resist 2500 lbs. of water pressure. But at least military vehicles were...
Big pipe coming out of the ground next to a large mound of dirt and a generator. There would not happen to be a door in that mound would there?
I almost never come to the 151 section here on SS. But the reverse idle shaft will drop to the bottom of the transmission 90% of the time when this happens. The best thing to do is to go fishing with a magnet on a wand but stronger is not better because you are working down inside of a cast iron...
I KNEW I had seen your name before when I saw it on the G503. LOL. I am pretty sure we have met in the past, did you used to go the the Aberdeen show in Aberdeen MD.? It was there or talking to you about wrenching on this site. As I said on the 503, if you want to PM me a phone number I will...
Solvents evaporate over time, not a very long time either. I sprayed the block surface on my Dodge Cummins with WD-40 after cleaning it for a new head gasket, the next day it was covered in rust. It is advertised as a lubricant solvent. It is possible that the solvent/cleaner evaporated and left...
Looks to me like more solvents and cleaners that anything else. You might want to switch to a brand name additive. This is what I use, It is Cummins certified so I can be pretty sure it is a good product.

He is survived by his wife but I have not heard any arrangements yet. Ken lived in Sussex, England. I will be sure to update if and when I hear something.
Ken Whowell, aka Muttguru, passed away on 4/20/25. Ken was a major factor in everything related to and printed about the M151 and M416 vehicles. He will be greatly missed by the M-151 community.
Personally I use Power Service supplement but any name brand supplement will do the job. Most issues nowadays in older diesels, including vehicles, is that they have removed sulfur from the fuel. Sulfur is a lubricant. So additives that provide extra lubricant are needed. I do not see anything...
I have seen oil in the coolant before but that appears to be ALL oil and no coolant. With all of the other problems I think this is a unit that has hit the mark for diminishing return. You have already spent for more than it is worth and you have no manuals or parts availability. I think you...
