Hey Nova, this is Captain T. I must have replaced his alternator at some point down the road and take it off the sound filter capacitor for lack of a better word. Can these be bought at any auto store? I know it says you don't need them but I do have a stereo in here and the feedback is terrible...

Great info !! I think my issue was when all of the braking system got hot from the starter coming loose and grounding out the brake system. To the point where the emergency brake jackets caught fire before I could get the batteries disconnected. After pulling the sensor at the master cylinder ...

Correction on last one. I did not do my diagnostics correctly . The parking brake sensor was not the issue with light staying on. It was the sensor at the master cylinder. Cleaned it up on both ends , reconnected and all is well. Capt.T

Well, this chapter is closed anyway. The new emergency cables are installed. Muffler looked over well and all good there. New emergency/ park brake sensor installed. All checks out. Lesson learned is keeping an eye on the starter bolts from time to time, maybe even change them out every few...

Finally removed the muffler and can now get to the emergency brake cable connections. Will also replace the emergency / parking brake sensor as it was fried during this ordeal. So far so good ...

All set, my girl is back together, new bolts, red locktite, new upgraded support. Fired right up. Don't know how nothing else was damaged but hey, all good ! Do you guys know of any threads talking about replacing parking brake cables ? Thanks for all the help guys ! P.S. It wasn't as "easy"...

Yes, guess I should have looked that area over better. Been under her a bunch in the last 4 years and never saw a missing bolt in starter. Maybe someone cover there ass and just but the "head in". Be that as it may after I look at the pics perhaps there was chafing on the emergency brake line...

Thanks for that . It hit the frame. I know the shunt is not fusible link but thought is that much power going through it would at least stress it a bit. It's odd to me though that only the parking brake cables were caught on fire. I can't see where the hot could hit just the parking brake rod ...
