Sounds like an awesome trip. Make sure to get a rewards card for all the fuel stops. What does it take to get through Canada? Post a couple pics of the expression on their face when you roll up to the border patrol.
Alright, we are rolling again. Tried 7 different shops and the last one I tried, a welding shop, agreed to tackle it. 8 hrs of shop time later they got it up and running. It works great and now I have my turbo plus I'm not melting hydraulic or air lines now. Thanks for your thoughts and good...
I totally agree. Problem is I'm stranded in a small town that has very limited services. I'm brainstorming ideas on how to patch it up to get down the road to a town with access to more options.
Fortunately, I found a shop yesterday to fix the airlines that melted and I have a welding shop that...
I found some that will take the temperature but I talked to the manufacturer and they are only rated for 7.5 psi, which would be a problem. An exhaust shop should be able to fix it pretty easy I just need to temp something up to get me there. Still scheming...
Ughh, I guess we'll see with this one. I had to install a new starter solenoid to start the recovery and then this. I think my problems stem from sitting for a while in a damp climate.
Thanks for the picture! It gives me a clearer picture of what that thing looks like. Not sure who or when it was wrapped but it is on there solid. The truck was rebuilt in 2010 and only had 100 miles on when I got it. I assumed it was military to protect the hydraulic hose goes right beside it...
Thanks so much for your time spent on this and making the calls - I really appreciate it. I hadn't thought of tin cans but that could work. I'm worried about old pieces of the pipe breaking off and going through that turbo....
Thanks again for the help!
Thanks for the legwork. This one is a little different as the turbo is offset to the passenger side. Still looking for a diagram like yours to make things easier. Here's a couple pics:
This is the piece. It's the green elbow. You can see the crack on the top where the clamp is and then the hole...
Hello,
I'm in the process of recovering an MK48 and blew a hole in the exhaust. The unit has low miles (about 600)) and was recently rebuilt but has been sitting in wet climates for a few years. The top part by the clamp was rusty and had a hole and then it blew out a 4+inch hole in a new spot...
Any one parting out a motor or pieces? I'm looking for an exhaust 90 on the passenger side. It fits after the exhaust manifold and onto the pipe that goes up to the turbo. Needed ASAP. Thanks!
Hey all,
Just moved to the area (Everett) and looking forward to jumping into the fray here. My green iron is located out of state at the moment but will be arriving as soon as I can find a place to park the little guys.
You'll love it if you get one (except for the fill ups). It's a great truck to drive and it'll keep your hands full on the highway. You're supposed to stop at the scales. Post some pics when you bring one home.
