I ended up buying new Cummins injectors... Found a good deal and got all 6 for less than $400 all new sealed in original Cummins packaging. Great deal comsidering most places wanted over $400 EACH for true Cummins injectors!! sheesh
I worked for with the Navy for 11yrs, and Air Force Material Command for 12 yrs.... I can tell you the Govt doesn't give a crap about saving money on DRMO. The organizations and branches do not get any money back, so it doesn't affect them. The waste in the Govt is mind boggling... They went...
That what we call pricing as a "Sucker Bet..." High price just waiting for the "Sucker" that doesn't know any better. Some guys try to sell items at the "Retail" price of what the govt paid, or what Cummins or Other trucking companies charge. The bottom line is the Surplus industry will start...
For the small sellers, that was a big portion of their business... being able to get triwalls of mixed lots. Once you factor in fees, transportation, storage, and sales costs.. There wasn't a lot of meat left on the bone as it was unless you were selling over seas, or just hold out for desperate...
So what your saying is that GP is like OPEC... Sure, cut off supply to drive up prices. Then once all the small sellers are out of business, you can keep the prices higher as you sell large volumn to bigger retailers. Awesome.... As I said, great for GP... Who cares about small businesses...
GP is well on it's way to eliminating 80% of the small companies that were in the "Military Surplus" game... From small sellers, to vehicle flippers, to transporters, to guys who would pick stuff up and hold it for other SS members. I personally know over 20 people who have lost their sole...
I'm hoping to get the injectors out this Friday, clean the screens, inspect them, and see how it goes. If they look grunged up past the screens, I will likely take them over to a local injector shop to have them professionally serviced and flow tested.
Stay tuned!
btw... Thanks to several...
Hey,
What are the recommended parts / Tips / Tricks when removing, cleaning, and re-installing the clogged fuel injectors on an NHC-250?
Any guidance/Tips from those who have done it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!
- Yes, as I stated above, the fuel transfer pump is in a Jerry can of new clean diesel, and connected into the PT pump inlet (Yes, the lower line that normally comes from the trucks filter)
- I never said I was bypassing the PT pump? That would be a crazy and defeat the purpose of...
How much fuel pressure / Flow rate should it have? I would think if it's getting fuel to the injectors, it should at least stumble start, try to start, something. When I crank it, it turns over quick, but not even attempting to start. Quick shot of either and it starts right up and dies...
Hey... I have a M923A1 that won't start.... It hadn't been ran in quite awhile, and the last time I drove it, it was sluggish and slow throttle response until it got warmed up. I'm guessing the fuel was getting bad.. (after thought now)
- I've replaced the main fuel filter
- Drained the tank...
SUCCESS!!!! Ok, I took the top hard fuel likes off the fuel pumps, filled each with carb cleaner, let soak for 30 min, dead cranked for 5 sec, soaked with carb cleaner for 30 min, dead cranked for 5 sec, soaked with wd40 for 5 min, dead cranked 5 sec... soaked wd40 for 1 min... dead cranked 5...
Ok, FINALLY got back to this gen....
Replaced the electric fuel pump and confirmed good fuel flow to the bottom of the mechanical fuel pumps. No start.... So I cracked the line on top of the mechanical fuel pumps and nothing... No fuel flow while trying to start!! Not even a dribble.
I...
No, not yet.. still waiting on my new electric fuel pump to arrive... I just didn't like the sound of the old square unit, so replacing it with a new round one like my newer model.
Ok, I cleaned all the injectors one by one, making sure to keep the shim pack in the correct order. They really didn't look bad at all. Just a slight coloration of the carb cleaner residue in the bucket. I use a clear 1-gal bucket cleaning carbs/injectors so I can see any debris or coloring of...
Guyfang - Yes, the fuel solenoid is working fine... no issues there.
The reason I hadn't found the engine TM is I have not had an issue in 20 units, where it was a fuel/engine specific problem. It's always been either a switch, or sensor, or other electrical issue. Never had to even look at...
