We were excited about this event until we found out it takes place while the kids are still in school. Was hoping to meet you all as we are newbie's to the MV scene with my son's M51 dumper. He and daughter are busy studying for final exams
Hopefully there are other events this summer...
Bmink650,
Nice workmanship! I like the way you have everything tucked neatly between the frame rails.
What are you planning on hauling with it? As Quickfarms stated, tires/wheels don't appear to be very heavy duty. Also, whatever the axle rating is will be MUCH higher than it will actually...
What does MWO stand for? My son's 5 ton M51 has a little triangular tag attached to the driver's door opening that says "MWO applied" and a number below the text.
What happened to the tailgate during your dumping procedure?
Also, you might want to read some of the posts on here regarding using a stock trailer to dump. From what I have read here, the castings where the tongue pivots are not up to the stress and will break! The tongue was made to pivot...
Kudos to your daughter for knowing about the "tow ring" and I am glad it worked. You did not say what kind of car it was (I bet it is foreign), however, those are NOT tow rings. They are tie down rings they use to secure foreign made cars during shipping from over seas. I am not sure it would...
That should only apply to us newbies with less than 100 posts. After all, a guy with over 13000 posts already knows everything and where everything is! Hmmmmmm Or maybe he doesn't, and that's why he has 13000+ posts!
I just had this problem on my backhoe this past weekend. Solenoid clunk but engine did not budge. Connections on battery LOOKED good but when I pulled them off I could see a fine white film. Cleaned up the battery terminals and the inside of the cable clamps and it cranked and started right...
nk14zp, a fellow ham!
N8KPV here.
I thought that might be the case. Do the flaps encase most of the outer part of the tube? I thinking they would protect the tube from all contact with the steel wheel. Is that correct?
Hendersond,
Attached is a pic of the heater under the hood of my 17 year old son's 1962 M51 5 ton dump truck. Engine is the Continental R6602 gasser.
The heater is an engine coolant to air heat exchanger which is the common type used in automobiles. Note the coolant hoses running over the...
Gosh, this is so exiting!!!!
Even though I am stuck at work in Michigan, I am sitting here on my lunch hour checking on everyone's progress to the rally and loving it. Your updates and pics (hopefully more soon) are making it possible for me to "live" the event with you all.
While I don't...
Yes. On the SS main page there is a column of ads and such on the right hand side. If you scroll down a bit you will see a mini calendar. Click on it and it will open to full page. THIS IS THE DEFAULT CALENDAR (birthdays and junk) NOT THE EVENT CALENDAR. Scroll down below the big calendar...
Still WAY too far away for us to bring the M51 gasser, but close enough to attend! Thanks for posting so early so I can try and get my wife to put it on the family calendar.
Speaking of Calendar, make sure you get it on the Event Calendar on this website!
That's great! Glad you had some show up considering the weather. I think giving some rides is really great. How many people get to ride in an MV in their lifetime (in a safe environment)? Not many for sure.
