So I think the center section is ok, I see a slight bit of movement in the driver's side axle shaft as it takes up whatever slack is on that side when turning the input. Passenger side, as stated previously, spins freely so the problem is from that u-joint outboard.
People think they are gold up here. It's rare to see one listed for under $10k (I say rare but I don't recall ever seeing a 939 that cheap). $15k-$20k is pretty normal so it's not even that much of an outlier.
I don't see the price listed anywhere, but I'll say that 5 tons in Alaska go for crazy money. I bought one in WA state when govliq still did it and after barging it up to AK and driving it home it was still less than half the cost of a beat up and ragged out one would go for up here. It's...
The gov planet rep does say that in normal drive (without selecting mode), the front t-case output is what's spinning. He's worried the front diff might be bad is why that front shaft is out of it though.
The gov planet guy really is a nice guy, and he should be the one that did that listing too. I'm actually poking around the LMTV side because he wants to make sure this truck is ready for XCRV and was asking me what I knew about it.
I'm going to steal a little thunder from XCRV here and...
Does anyone know what the lug pattern is on the M720 Shelter Dolly? I didn't come up with anything in a search. They look like they're 5x5 or 5x5.5 but I haven't been able to measure one to see.
I haven't dealt with Gov Planet in places that don't, but GL I was able to ask and find out. The Gov Planet really helpful to me so far so I imagine if you inquired about the bases you were looking to purchase from they would find out for you.
You can get #1 diesel still, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if stations in that area tried to skimp out becuase it costs more and they can get more profit by charging #1 price for treated #2.
The labled #1 we get in AK won't gel untreated at -50F. I did a little experiment and filled a...
Presence of fuel might not neccessarily indicate enough of it to run. I don't suppose you opened the hood and put your hand near the motor to see exactly how hot the motor felt? With electric temperature guages it could still potentially be an electrical reason that you saw the high reading.
If one drum was incredibly hot, that would indicate the sticking one in my mind. Just saying... Even if another one is sticking some, that one difinately is.
It says when the steering is dead ahead and turning the steering wheel would make it not be dead ahead, right? I'm not near my truck to look at the adjustment on the ram to give a better response right now.
