    Oil filter line routing

Okay, I see that the oil filter fills with oil and the overflow goes out the side of the filter and down to the timing gear cover, but where does the oil line come from? I'm working on another person's project and the oil filter line was missing.

Oversized pistons and ring end gap

I ordered 0.030 oversize and the end gap was an interference fit. I filed the end gap to 0.014" as the manufacturer's instructions was to have an end gap og 0.004" per inch of diameter.

Oversized pistons and ring end gap

I think someone put standard rings on an oversize piston.

Oversized pistons and ring end gap

The did the calculations and 0.030 should give me a difference of 0.094" . That should take up most of the end gap.

Oversized pistons and ring end gap

PS, The rings that came out had an end gap of 0.11" and the oil rings would fall out of the cylinder. It all adds up to zero or very little compression. And if it started, it would smoke like a freight train.

Oversized pistons and ring end gap

It has an arrow pointing to the front and 0.020 on the top of each piston. I measured the pistons and the bore across several diameters came out 3.125. I used a dial caliper. I know that isn't the best way to measure, but I'm pretty sure it's not off by 0.020.

Oversized pistons and ring end gap

I am in the process of tearing down a F series engine and have a few questions. First according to the specs, the bore is 3.125" and when I measure the bore it is indeed 3.125" and there is practically no ridge. Should come out with a little honing. But something doesn't quite pan out. The...

    Found an old Motors Manual

I just came across a treasure trove of old Willys information in a 1959 Motors Manual that used to belong to my father-in-law. It has torque values for the heads, main and rod bearings and a bunch of other specs. Would it be a copyright infringement if I copied the pages and put them in a pdf...

    Adding a tach?

Do you not think it is going into third? To find out, just place the gear shift lever to 2nd when you are at about 40. You will definitely feel the downshift.

Combining of Stanadyne additive and Power Service?

I am pretty sure the refineries already add an anti-gelling agent in their winter blend.

Popping Sound when pressing glow plug switch ... no cranking

Has one of the alternators been removed? Did it crank before?

Batteries charged, but no panel lights or starter

The easiest way to get the instrument cluster out is to remove the bezel first, then the dash, then the two screws holding on the transmission shift indicator, then the instrument cluster. You'll have to disconnect the speedometer cable first.
