4 Wheel Drive light staying on?

I recently pulled out the interior of my M1009 to lay down some Herculiner and after putting everything back together I fired her up and one of the Gen lights and the 4 wheel drive light stayed on, when I pulled it out and began to drive the Gen light finally went out but the 4 wheel drive light...

    Resistor Bypass now won't start

Yay! Well tonight I actually DID change the GP Relay and then it started right up, no problems. Now I am seeing a leak from my fuel filter, I guess I have a new project LOL. I've heard a lot of people talking about a spin on filter, maybe I will look into that mod.

    Resistor Bypass now won't start

Correct, I just disconnected the wire going from the 24 volt block and the other end to the relay and removed the resistor completely, re-used the one wire from the resistor and connected to the 12 volt block and back to the relay. I know I did that much right because the vehicle did start...

    Resistor Bypass now won't start

I'm still pretty new here but the relay is after the resistor bank (in stock configuration), so it would have only been seeing 12 volts normally anyway, right?

    Resistor Bypass now won't start

So last night I did the resistor bypass on my 84 1009 and right afterwards it seemed to have a little difficulty starting but it did in fact start and I let it run for a while, seemed to smoke more than normal though....and now this morning it won't start at all. Any ideas?

    The Beast

If he is around Denver tell him to stop in and say Hi, we can compare 1009's

    Opinions everyone

I just finished doing all the reading I could find on the resistor bypass and plan on doing that this weekend, one question I still do have about it is it seems everyone says they changed their GP's to AC60 right after doing this mod, why is that? Is this needed with the mod? The previous owner...

    Opinions everyone

Where can I find some clear instructions on doing this, I have searched and seems all the posts I find are just people stating that they have done this etc, can't seem to find a post that actually gives instructions on how to do it. I'm curious why GM engineers didn't just run straight 12 volts...

    Opinions everyone

You guys all rock, all great and valid suggestions! Still tough decisions to be made. My drivers side door has lots of dents and would require much bodywork to make look presentable so I am for sure going to swap that one out no matter what. Wish I could swap the whole darn Quarters LOL, they...

    Opinions everyone

So I have my 84 1009 now and recently had a neighbor blow up her Civi Blazer and I have the opportunity to pick this thing apart, should I swap out the doors and tailgate on my 1009 so I can get power windows and lock and a locking tailgate? I know a lot of you guys are purists and like to keep...

    Antenna Mount threads

First let me start by saying hello, I don't think I've even formally introduced myself to the board, I'm Steve from Denver and just picked up my first MV, a 1984 M1009 with 47,000 miles. So of course I've been tinkering already and one of the things noticed was the previous owner gummed up the...
