LOL the only REAL Detroit is a 2 stroke.... it's getting the 4-53t it came with when I bought it. However I've removed the allison 540 that was behind it and installed the above mentioned 5 speed, with a 3 speed Spicer 5831B "brownie" behind that. The 4-53t popped a liner o-ring which prompted...
Hi all, I'm new here but I'm putting a 3053a in my pickup truck behind my Detroit. As far as I can tell the 3053 is designed to just hang off the bellhousing and does not take a rear mount anywhere? Am I correct in that? Here is a picture of it setting in there now. Thank you for your help in...
Howie would that 6v53 even fit in a deuce? I was under the impression they were kinda narrow under the hood. On that note I'd love a deuce with a Detroit, woulda been the perfect truck. I've also dreamt of a HUMVEE with a 6v53t.... if only i had more time and $$! Thanks for the warm welcome!
Not actively looking for a deuce at all right now. I simply have too many trucks as it is. Once I finish my 87k30 detroit repower I'll have some more room. Thanks for the links and info.
Whats the military using the 6v53ts in currently? I'm hot for a newer model.
Do you guys need the Detroit Diesel 53 series service manual? I have electronic from 79, and I have the newer edition that covers the silver series (won't be in the goats). I figured there'd be a sticky in goat section but didn't see it. If yall need it I can upload or email.
The flywheel isn't drilled to accept a sae3 12 or 13" clutch? Will a standard SBC clutch work? I know they used sm420s for transmissions, but never really got into the clutch as all my stuff would be truck specific.
LOL I'd probably drive the sucker home from w/e I ended up buying it. The v10 doesn't come out much, and I'm away camping all weekend. Wheres Norwich? Maybe I'll take Jimmy and swing in. Do they typically have a swap meet?
Thanks man! I hope to be down your way later this year for a diesel...
Awesome!!! Congrats on the newish cummins! There's nothing like the feeling of learning a new platform, thats the best part! Enjoy man, thanks for the warm welcome.

I have a 3053 I picked up from a buddy that looks to be almost new inside, he was told it was a military rebuild. It spins great and goes through all the gears but I opened it up to inspect it. Everything looks great except the 5th gear synchro is WASTED. Big time wasted. Where can I get a 4-5...
Hi guys I'm new from Upstate NY. Signed up even though I don't own a Deuce because I figured this would be the place to go for Spicer 3053/3052 knowledge. I'm a huge Detroit Diesel fan and I've got some trucks with Detroit repowers. This place is awesome.
