What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I didn't have a filter wrench big enough for the lube oil filter so I used my belt. Worked great.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Now that the temps here are cooling down, I changed lube oil and filter. Didn't see any oil drain plug gasket, not in drain pan. I used teflon tape on plug. Hope it doesn't leak. Will do trans and fuel filters next.

    HMMWV serial/vin #

I don't own a hmmwv but someday I might. Was wondering if the serial and vin numbers were only located on a rivited plate located on the outside of the vehicle or other places. Is there only one place with those numbers or someplace else like on the frame? Thank you for any info.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Check the windings with ah ohm meter with one probe grounded to the solenoid body, separate from the truck ground. You want to see if there might be a short in the windings. There should be infinite ohms, no continuity. If there is some, that means there is a short and pulling down the...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Try checking the windings to ground, the solenoid housing. Maybe a short in winding?

What's the resistance in the solenoid windings? Is there a spec of what it should be?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Maybe check continuity on that electromagnet where the wires would connect. Can't see in the pic.

    KDS Smart start issues

Try WD-40 instead. No ether, starting fluid. That "diode" that looks burnt is a resistor. From looking at the colored bands on it, it just might be a 100 ohm resistor. It got hot for some reason. Good luck.

I'm not familiar with the HETT but I would start looking for a fuse somewhere that could be blown.

    Greasing m939 trans/transmission drive shaft

You only need to grease two of the zerks, one on each u-joint. The other 2 are for ease of access if needed. They are all the same according to Wes Simpson. What I did was loosen the 4 bolts on each end that bolts to the flange of the trans or transfer case one end at a time and move the...

M923a2 Coolant System Drain and Flush:

There is a block drain on the passenger side of the engine. You can take that out and use a hose to squirt water in and around the cylinders to clean out the block. Just let it drain out. Fill the radiator with hose water and let it run out and see what kind of gunk comes out. I used...
