max tilt/slope/roll angles when driving for say M1079

The TM 9-2320-365-10 has the angles (and a lot of other good info including a comparison of models and a list of accessory kits on pages 1-10 to 1-30)

Bought LMTV... and Got Hemmet Cab

It might be worth looking closely at the tags and/or stenciled markings on the crate that actually had the unissued 2009 M1157 cab and compare to the markings on the crate with the wrecked 2002 M1083 cab. If the information on the crate gives an accurate representation of the contents, it would...

Bought LMTV... and Got Hemmet Cab

A friend & I bought 6 cabs out of Herlong, CA. Where did yours come from? The descriptions from GL all read "2009 Stewart & Stevenson FMTV STD Cab Assembly M1157 10 ton, removed from unissued vehicle's, crated and put into long term storage for future service. Cab will fit multiple chassis...

    Oshkosh MK48, any experience/owners?

I remember that Sandcobra had sent a disc with TM's for the MK48 to the moderators to decide if it would be OK to post. There may have been restrictions on distribution since no additional TM's ever got posted for the MK48 & the various RBU.

    Oshkosh MK48, any experience/owners?

I have also seen references that TM 2320-10/11 A is also needed for the MK18A1 but it is also nowhere to be found. I spent quite a bit of time a couple of years ago trying to find it.

    HEMTT vs. Mk48 LVS Radiator

I've done fairly regular searches for Detroit on GL for 3 or 4 years, but I haven't seen a 8V92 for the MK48 sold on GL. I'm pretty certain this picture I found a while ago is the engine & trans out of the MK48. The turbo is not over the block and there is no set up for a fan on the front of...

    HEMTT vs. Mk48 LVS Radiator

Was the reman Detroit built for the MK48 or the HEMTT? They are basically the same, but the turbo location & plumbing and a few other things are different.

    HEMTT vs. Mk48 LVS Radiator

I think the MK48 core will work. I have taken some good measurements of overall dimensions and on the bolt pattern on top & bottom of the MK48 core. I have complete radiators and radiator cores for the MK48, but I don't have any HEMTT's left to measure to make sure they are the same. I also...

    hemtt antifreeze

I found some pictures I took a while ago & made some notes. I'll probably get some better pictures this weekend. You will probably have to use Adobe to zoom in to see much on the drawings.

    hemtt antifreeze

Until I see something that convinces me to change I'm going with regular antifreeze + SCA. I think it's important to check with test strips. They are pretty cheap and make it easy to keep the additive at the correct level. I think the radiator cores are the same on the HEMTT, PLS, and MK48...

    M1070 Tech & Tips

I looked into getting more horsepower out of the 8V92 a couple of years ago. It seemed like there wasn't much out there on trucks or military applications, but I found a lot of information on some sites discussing using Detroit 2 strokes in marine applications. I'll see if I saved any...

Resolution size of PNG vs JPG

I don't know if you guys saw this news two days ago-Microsoft Paint to be killed off after 32 years The story prompted an uproar leading to yesterday's Internet revolt just saved Microsoft Paint I've used Paint for many years to create drawings or quick sketches for the welding shop or...

    M872 'Quality Deficiency'

There are a couple of other threads about this- sounds like some of the frames rusted out from the inside- causing some major structural failures. I have one that looks like new, but I will be checking it out carefully. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?169422-M872-warning...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

When GL puts a letter in the NSN, there are only 9 digits to try. In that position it is often 0, so you get 2540014368898 or in the format Action put it 2540-01-436-8898. A quick google search gives you the information below. The crate & contents look a lot like the kit for the MK17 rear unit...

    M872 warning

Thanks for the heads up! I bought one from Ft Lewis a couple of years ago that looks like new, but we haven't used it a lot. Plan to do a thorough inspection, but it would be great to have more details about the problem. I have a geologist's hammer with a sharp point and have used that to...

Why does log in time out?

FWIW- I used to get a lot of interruptions, phone calls, other employees, kids, etc., etc- so if I was writing anything more than a quick reply, I started using MS Word to write up the post or message so I could save & edit it. Then, when it was finished, I'd copy and paste it into the email or...

    939 EUC's ? Months after auction???

I received a similar email that listed each of 6 vehicles 3 times. Some of them went as far back as 2015. I sent email to GP and received a pretty prompt response saying to the effect "never mind- it was a computer glitch." Obviously I can't say for sure that would apply to your situation...

    Deuce moves 240,000 lb load

Very impressive- when you get into moving/lifting REALLY heavy things, you really have to think things through. Looking at the autoclave nosed up to the edge of the second floor in post#2 makes me think you are going to have to take the roof off the building for the cranes to lift it out. Is...

    24 Volt System jump starting

I agree-an electric rebuild shop will usually check it out for free and rebuild it for way less than replacement- especially for a hard to find item. I've had good luck with Blanchard Electric in Seattle on civilian and military starters & alternators, but there has to be a place in Portland...

    Oshkosh MK48 MK18 containers

I replied to your other thread with the link to the TM's here on this site. I found the attachment for the MK18A1 that reduces the angle of loading, but it is only for short containers, not 20 footers. I posted that on the other thread earlier today. here's the link to the other thread...
