Mine were leaking. Undid all the bolts and they were basically loose. They were also deformed. Cleaned everything up and used rtv. They still leak.
How do I straighten out the flanges or what's a reputable source for new ones?

Well I did it. Not the right way but it's fixed:
Found a few more random chopped wires sticking out of the fuse box. This truck used to be a police vehicle maintained by an idiot so you can imagine the hackjob under the dash.
Probed some more with the multimeter, found the 12v source wire...
Started instantly at 0*F the other day after jumping the relay. Will check those grounds and the resistances off the temp sender. Tracking it's supposed to be about 300 ohms at 125* and ~30,000 ohms below freezing.

I think I understand now after finding some other posts: 24v is normal unless the glow plugs are glowing.
Next question: Purple wire in the diagram - is it supposed to be 12v or 24v with the key on?
Lastly: is there a method of troubleshooting the glow plug card? Mine is the new one from Mr...
Seems my resistor failed. 25.98 volts at the glow plug relay. Probably toasted a few plugs too.
Sad panda if the card is toast, it's a new one just over a year old.

Should have been more clear my bad.
After the full flush this starbright stuff won't hurt the cooling system will it?
Any residual old coolant will be too dilute by that point to matter

My work closed down one of their repair shops. I happened to be there that day. They gave me 5 gallons of this stuff.
Can I mix it with normal green coolant? Going to be doing a flush soon for a clogged heater core.

Have had an electric temp sensor in place of the glow plug temp sensor on the back of the driver side head for the past 5 years at least. It's been fairly accurate, 180-190s after extended driving.
Past few days it's suddenly reading low,not going over 140* ever. Temp goes down to low 100s any...
I have my old (bad) one. Turns out one of the long bolts that holds the starter together is about 1/4" shorter than what my dead starter had. It was probably always holding on by a few threads and just came apart on its own. Swapped the bolts around .... It started right up

Very educational. Thank you for the write ups.
I started unwrapping the wrapped harnesses, looked like really old electrical tape, not sure if that's from the factory. Found another loose cheapo wire union. Pulled it off and fixed it properly with heat shrink tubing and some soldering...
Interesting observation from today:
Accidentally started the truck without the dash harness plugged in. No squeal at all.
As soon as I plugged it in... squeal away.
The semi new belts are the notched ones. Gates brand.

Driving me crazy.
My first Alaskan winter. When it started to get cold the alts started to squeal slightly, and Gen2 would stay lit when turning the truck on. A small throttle bump and both would go away. As it got colder the squeal and Gen2 stayed on longer until now only the squeal goes away...
Another up for the copper-nickel brake line. I redid my entire brake system a year or so ago. Got a an inverted flare former, a bag of fittings. Everything was fairly standard and easy.
Just don't forget to put the fittings on the brake line before forming the flare
