I have a hoist that can lift the engine and trans into your vehicle. I am retired so I am around most of the time. Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. Just replaced my trans and engine in the M43 and redid the emergency brake system in the M35 while working on the 1943 Cushman flight line...

Well...it was not the oil galley plug that was leaking. I found that the lowest bolt on the timing chain cover had fouled threads and would not tighten. It was in fact, loose at best. I re-tapped the hole threads and tried the equivalent new bolt which tightened down like the rest of the timing...
Just getting ready to check out my leak and will definitely look at the added oil line you have described. Really appreciate your assistance and the fact that you posted a oil leak resolution that is not found in the manuals or elsewhere.
Will let you know about my oil leak after today's...

I actually found an original mint condition tank lid seal. Scooped it up as a spare. I have not tested the current seal for leakage as yet. Need to sanitize then fill with water,
The seal was a pricey $70.00 but I wanted the OE replacement.
Thank you for your reply, I have two daughters living in Tucson and one daughter living in Goodyear, Az. Love the state and hope it does not go the way of some other unmentioned states...like Calimexizuela.
Thank you both for your reply. I thought about jacking up the frame, but felt I should ask first. I am not as spry as I once was and try to eliminate unwanted extra labor with no results.
Again, Thank you both.
I want to inspecty the lower end of the engine without removing it. I un-connected the oil pan and removed the flywheel cover but cannot remove the oil pan from under the vehicle. It seems I must lift the engine as in removal of the engine to clear the oil pan from under the engine.

I have the 750 x 16's on the jeep. At first there seemed to be no problem, but after driving around a bit (flexing the suspension) I found that the tires do rub the edges of the tire tread when reaching the maximum turning point on left or right turns. They appear to not rub in normal small...
