I just got home from registering my CUCV in the Great State of Texas. It took one full morning at a State Inspection Station, and 4 trips to the county offices over 2 days time. All said and done, as she was wrapping up the clerk said "now it is a regular three quarter ton Texas pickup truck."...
Finished relocating my M1008 from central Kalifornia to the Great Republic of Texas towing a trailer all the way. Some problems with transmission not wanting to budge when first starting in the morning (temporary fix was to overfill it). So it looks like I will get it rebuilt for the 3rd time...
But you were looking good while doing it! This is KK6OYF. I am hoping to get some communications set up in my CUCV. Some time if you could PM me I would like to get a better idea of what you've got in the box, how's mounted and what works best.
I am slowly getting my M1008 ready to bug out for Texas. This past week I went to replace the old harmonic balancer along with oil and differential fluids, SURPRISE, I added a radiator to the list. Next I want to add on a civilian ball style tow system under the back bumper. Because of larger...
This Spring I may finally be getting out of the Hotel Kalifornia. The first part of the move will be to load some "to be stored items" in the CUCV and head for Abilene. I am hoping to have any bugs worked out of her by then. So far she still has fairly low mileage because I have driven it...
Now I have more starting problems. In the past I have had problems with the batteries not accepting a full charge. I replaced them. Then I had problems with the starter itself and I replaced it with with an updated/faster starter. Then there was the time when I went to start the engine and...
Great reminders TedO. I replaced mine with an aftermarket high speed starter. As I remember I had to make/change out a mounting bracket but no problem since then.
Joshuak pic's maybe fun but I'm old and having trouble adding them to my message. 35" is about as big as you can go and still be in the wheel well. As it is even with trimming the fenders my 315/75-16E Discovers rub in the turns and while braking. To stop this I'm having to add a 2 1/2...
I'll take that as "Make do with what you've got." (Or is that a "Do what ya gota do." Another Ahab? Or is this your way of saying "lift it"? Or is she showing 35 inches? Or is this simply "Duh"? I could be reading too much into it. You may just like old time pictures.)
Yesterday I put some 35 inch Cooper's under my M1008. It's tight, infect it rubs a little then turning on a slope or braking while turning. So Monday it just might be time to look for a lift kit.
So what was the conclusion? The left turn signal on my M1008 is just a constant light even though all bulbs and grounds are good (I even replaced the left front bulb socket with no change).
More Gen 2 problems. Gen 2 was not putting out enough voltage so I decided to replace the brushes and voltage regulator. Naturally, I forgot to disconnect the batteries so I also got to replace three fuse-able links with the help of AECS (I had the important job of getting him tools)...
I never knew about that card either. Where do you get a replacement? My coolant light has come on every now and then, since the first day I got my M1008. I always thought it was a sensor somewhere that needed replacing. Come to think of it, it might still be a sensor but now I have something...
