No suspension? the undercarriage looks similar to a couple I have. OK on the flat stuff but difficult on any hilly stuff. extremely stout construction. use mine for moving generators and hay etc. looks like the box will make it a great chicken tractor.
looks like something the forest service would have used to make fire roads. I presume the seabees/army /marines used them at one time or other. was it tagged as military before you restored it?
Do you know the seller well? a lot is depending on a third party assessment of what is wrong. does the road there have good shoulders? take a heat gun and stop every few miles and check it. plan on taking cool down stops. rig up a cheap harbor freight air tank, lines and fittings to bypass...

some folks don't like the sound of a c turbo on long trips. however some folks love the c turbo whine. especially when going thru the gears and up a hill. I fall into the later group. yes over the years I have had some hearing loss from loud noises like guns and brain damage from ex wives...
A visual inspection of the inside of tranny might be good. the center floorboard cover comes off with a few screws. then the top cover on the tranny itself. with engine off then try shifting gears. watch closely on the two gears in question. other tranny folks may want to try and chime in...
I have a 68 and they are all riveted. I bought some spares from a guy that had several post ww2 deuces. all riveted and looked just like my 1968. never looked for any date stamps. now i am curious
perhaps you could make use of that machine gun mount position and fab up a searchlight mount in that location. is the light controlled from a joystick in the cockpit or strictly manual. anyway cool stuff though. I have one from a destroyer with a signal shield on it. mounted it to my deck...
considering how the bead edge of the military tires engulf the split ring my personal opinion is that it would be very difficult to have a catastrophic failure in regular use. driving on a severely under inflated or flat tire might cause it. in my experience even the loss of tread has allowed...
must have hired some russian tire painters. I suppose that was the best russia could send them. the rest of their best and brightest are otherwise engaged in the crimea. kind of a shock and awe display though.
i am no expert but give your post some time. my two cents is that these are designed to be rebuilt. rebuild kits are available. hardware store fittings may not be appropriate on these. i would take the fitting/pieces to a truck brake shop see if they can sell you the proper fittings. might...
