    NV4500 transmission...

That is a steal! I have an NV4500 but I am still digging for a reasonable bellhousing and adapter. I'd grab and if nothing else resell it later for more.

Used Motor Oil and Reg. Gas

I use about a 50/50 mix give or take of WMO and old gasoline drained from storage vehicles. Filtered well, of course. The only issue I've noticed is that when it gets near freezing here, it takes a couple extra seconds of cranking to start cold. The pyro temps seem to run just...

Help identifying a Willys Jeep W/Pics.

I found one as well, but haven't gotten it into my hands or seen it in person. Its at a friend's house a couple states away, as he grabbed it for me and is holding it until I pick it up. Not sure exactly what it is yet, but it has column shift, no tailgate, and appears to be a civvy 2a. The...

    I.D. this part please

Picked up a Hummer 6.2L take out a few weeks ago and it has this item on the front of the water pump pulley. Appears to be a hydraulic motor maybe? Only has one inlet/outlet though and its small at something like a 3/16" line input. I've never looked under the hood of a HMMWV, so not sure of...

    deuce exhaust sound...HELP!

How about an injector stuck open? That would account for the white smoke (unburned fuel) and clearing up over idle somewhat as the engine can process the major amount of fuel in that cylinder enough to smooth out a bit. Just a thought.

    Failed turbo install

Working in automotive for 20+ years, I saw a lot of jobs out of Meineke and Midas and those types of places. 90% of the time they were hackneyed cobbled together systems, all thrown together in haste for a quick turnaround and buck. They advertise cheap for a reason, but rarely deliver cheap or...

    resonable expectation of privacy

I always figure if you live your life as honestly and with as much integrity as possible, then anything anyone discovers about you online shouldn't matter. I can't say there is anything on the net about me that would cause any problems. I do business there, use it as a reference, belong to...

    Helitool conversion calipers

Keep in mind the truck you are stopping with discs now used to be stopped with drums. Granted the drums were old tech and had severe limitations by todays standards, but still they stopped. The calipers required for this conversion will be light years ahead of the stock setup and more than...

    I got myself a lift

Nice job! Looks very useful. I have a 150 gallon fuel tank that I occasionally need to load and unload and using the skidsteer is a pain sometimes. I thought about something similar with a 8000 lb winch I have here, but its 12 volt, so I hadn't figured out battery charging, and portability...

packing pellets in my new turbo...

Spray them with a shot of 2+2 or other carb cleaner in an aerosol can. They will dissolve so completely you won't know they were ever there. Follow that with a shot or two of WD40 just for good measure afterward. I wouldn't take the turbo apart for a little bit of styrofoam.

    Fuel tank sealer?

Dealing with a lot of fouled tanks (I run a restoration shop) I have tried lots of products. As it stands right now, I exclusively use Caswell's fuel tank sealer. It isn't cheap, but it is the only thing that stays put with today's fuel. Like mentioned above, surface prep is the most...

9.00 X 20 NDCC tires in VA or MD

I'm looking for several (or maybe a set of 10) stock 9.00 X 20 NDCC tires for my Deuce. I know where I can buy them online, but shipping is the killer for them. Anyone know of a source in the VA or MD area? I don't mind a drive to pickup, as that will still be cheaper than shipping a set...

best way to clean out fuel tank?

Muriatic acid will work, but it will also rust almost immediately. Not the best way to clean the inside. Phosphoric acid will also work, but take a little longer. It leaves a protective coating inside afterward. Tumbling with some sort of media will do a good job too, but removing it all...

    What is a "restoration"?

The way we classify restoration in my business www.rcycle.com is this way: A full restoration is a pull down to the nuts and bolts and rebuild of all components to their original form, just as they were offered in the era they were made. A partial restoration or a "20 footer" is a...

    Engine Swap

I don't see too many obstacles here, except for fabrication. Mounts and such are pretty easy. One thing I haven't seen mentioned is mounting of the air compressor to run the brake system assist. Again, not a huge deal, but still something to consider. You're also going to either need to go...

    Master cyl, dual vs. single

Like Gimp mentioned above, I'd keep it simple and go with a later model truck M/C and a hydroboost. Seems fabbing up a powersteering pump to power the hydro system would be a lot less components than the dual system with dual airpacks and a mess of lines that they used on the A3's and not only...
