NC and SC are probably different, but when I registered my deuces I took the ARMY number (which has numbers and letters and is at least 6 digits), the type (four digits) and the serial number (5 digits). Not a full 17 digits, but they put it in and the computer made a 17 digit VIN by adding one...
I know of a fellow in Columbia that has 'fixed up' a number of 802/803 units. He stays pretty busy, but, if you can't figure it out with the manuals he's only 100 miles away.
Chris, you are correct, those burners have been modified to run on propane! Jeep Stew, USB drives can be purchased at Walmart, Office Depot, and probably most drugstores or general merchandise stores. The smallest size anymore is probably 16 GB. Last pack (of five drives) I got from Office...
Jeep Stew, you might consider sending me a USB drive that will hold at least 8 GB and get the latest version of my "MKT Thumb Drive" data. There is a lot more on that compilation and the equipment TM's available here (I have the AR's, FM's, TC's, LO's, etc.) - links to civilian catalogs, the...
Chris has answered pretty much everything you need to know. Vinyl/Canvas roofs, walls and carry covers are HARD TO FIND and EXPENSIVE, but if you can find a boat canvas shop and some those items as patterns, you may be able to squeak by. I did not see a griddle in your pictures, or the three...
Looks like you should have available the following TM's, plus the higher echelon manuals in that series.
TM 9-100-202-14, TM 9-1015-234-12, TM 9-1015-234-10, AND LO 9-1015-234-10
Depending on the distribution codes they may be available on the web, otherwise you will have to go through channels...
Guyfang is correct. Examine the power cables and connectors on the MBU itself. That is where the problem is. If necessary, replace the wiring loom with one from another unit (preferably one that is being scrapped for other reasons).
Table 1. Controller Error Codes.
Code Meaning Suggested Action
ER01 No Flame or flameout
See troubleshooting procedure “Burner fails to start or shuts
down during operation.”
ER02 Overvoltage Check voltage at power source. Check cables and connections
between power source and MBU.
ER03...
Look for wire numbers near the ends. All military vehicles and trailers use the same wire number for the same function. Somewhere in the past, the full table of wire numbers was posted on this site. Hopefully a copy of that table is in the TM Library section.
FDC is prone to leaking fuel into the engine oil, and not just a little drip either. That dilutes the lubrication of critical engine parts and leads to engine failure if not caught in time. It was one of those 'nice in theory, p---poor in practice' ideas. The concept was that GI's could use a...
If you don't have the two types side by side for a comparison I'll go with a natural loss of hearing due to age (whether the loss is in the turbo or the listener remains to be determined).
If you are looking for info on the deuce engine, you should first download the engine TM in the deuce section of the Technical Manuals group of posts. Read through that, then post specific questions on what you need to be doing.
