    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

I will give it a shot, thanks Kenny0

    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

Yup, let it run for about an hour. Kloppk: Is there a good wiring diagram for the relays/power/switches? I thought there was one in the TM but cannot seem to find it.

    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

Yep, was damp. Back to semi-working, now can't get power out of the outlet even with indicated power and battle short on.

    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

I can only assume it got damp, which means pulling the inverter again.

    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

Well that was short lived, now it starts and runs but then even with the Fault Controller disconnected its cutting power to the GC via K12, even though it appears to be showing good voltage out. That Regulator/Converter really is the weakpoint in this thing.

    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

Very much, especially as most of the guts of the MEP are actually really well built...its the governor and power generation that is sketchy.

Hey KloppK - I'd be interested in the Aftermarket Gen Head kit if you have them.

MEP 831 FAQ for owners or potential buyers

Just want to add this is how I power mine, and its surprisingly happy with pretty small batteries (I had two 6AH 12v Motorcycle batteries) and it cranks happily on them.

    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

I get the feeling this thing was in depot, a lot of the screws securing the coupling between the boards for the loads were loose. All the fuses you mentioned KloppK were intact and ohmed out good, so who knows. But it functions as a generator, and that'll do.

    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

So its reliably putting out 240v now, but still has the overvolt fault. I've noticed when load drops off, it loses one leg until the engine revs back up with a new load. An odd issue, but it functions, will certainly not expect it to handle a full 3kw load.

    Never is with electronics.

    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

Hey KloppK, So on the back of the inverter controller board, there's two connectors that come off going to the transformer/capacitor board and they look like they got a little hot. Any idea if that's normal?

    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

Was planning to take the inverter out again anyways, so I'll look it over. I did check for bulging/burnt caps the first time, didn't see anything out of the ordinary without getting too deep.

    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

So it works, but only if you are running the regulator in 120v mode, if you put it into 240v it drops voltage and has output issues.

    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

I will give that a shot in the AM.

    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

GC is changed out, I can see it has voltage during cranking but after the engine catches the K12 relay is locking out voltage to the GC

    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

Fairly certain the converter/regulator is toast. There is a pot adjustment internally for setting overvoltage trigger, and I did get it to output current to the outlet, but without the Governor controller to handle when a load is applied, it can't power anything.

    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

Extremely reasonable, and that's internally regulated versus needing an external regulator? EDIT: Yeah took a look, they have an internal regulator. Is it the NPE32 people are using? I'm going to take apart the inverter today and look for issues and clean it out.

    MEP831A - Overvoltage Fault

I'd be interested. Its in Georgia so yeah, high humidity is a possibility. What's the possible gen heads you can swap on? About the same output rating or better?
