No eye bolts or safety chain plate on M38A1's the trailer chains would hook to the lift rings inside the bumperettes, but USMC M38A1's moved the lift rings to the outer lip of the rear bumper after reinforcing it, so the trailer chains would not reach out that far, so, just curious, as they left...
Hose was replaced a few years ago, so is still good, but I dropped the leaking tank and had it cleaned, repaired and lined. Putting it back in today with floor jack to hold it in place and I pulled the filler neck and cap and the hose.
Can't find answer by searching, so here goes...do I install...
I do not know what Eastern Surplus is selling for $3,900 if you bought a NOS one for less than half that. If I pass it on, it will be the next guys issue with mounting hardware. If I keep it on a static display vehicle, I'll do what I have to do to make it safe, but probably not OE spec. I do...
Picked up well worn Type !!! S-788 shelter, don't know if it has a/c and/or generator until I get it opened up. My game plan was to place it in the bed of a non running but complete M998, paint it up desert tan and use it as a signage and photo op vehicle in front of local military museum...
Sorry, forgot to cut and paste data plate info. Here is what we can make out:
First tag toward tub
Columbs labeled Responsible Agency ; xxxx; maintenance;
Us army repeated in columns for
Chassis
Xxxx Body
Xxxx Equipment
Second tag
Weights columns empty; cross country
166 1/2 long

Well, here is what we can make out on the data plates and a pic of the air brake set up, appears to not have an air tank, but just the master cylinder. Tail lights are the rubber Douglas connectors. the 2/68 date may refer to the TM and not the DOD of the trailer. If the TM is correct, this...
Picked this trailer up today from a farm auction. Data plate says Stevens A2501M67. Don't know why it is not in order, but I'm guessing this is a variant of the M105 1 1/2t trailer around 1967. But I can't find any reference to the steel landing wheel. It is 24v with military tail lights...
Need M998 to transport US Army Black Knights at an air show tomorrow and just discovered that my drivers side rear seat base plate and cushion are missing. Want to cut a piece of plywood so that I can carry a jumper back there. But my M998 is staged at the PDK airport and I'm not near it, so...
I'm away from my shop and manuals and want to pull the front diff cover to see why a small leak. Any tips or tricks to the removal? Got all the bolts out but two on the passenger side, one comes loose but cannot be removed as it bottoms out against the caliper bracket. The blt right aboth it...
So, if we are thinking fire extinquisher bracket and the holes match each other on each fender, this would be a bracket on each fender. Any reason for two extinquishers out on the fenders? Maybe one a decontaiminator and one a fire ext? Two decontaminators? Don' know if I have a bracket...
Looked at a friends 73 Ax today and pretty original, not a lot of Bubba mods. Missing lift rings and brackets on front, felt like holes in the rear for snorter and antenna mount. But, on each front fender, five hholes in same pattern on both front fenders about half way from cowl to grill...
I restore a lot of military vehicles and reproduction, blank data plates have always been available for me to stamp with vehicle serial numbers and DODs. But, I need two for two M998s that are being restored and I'm not having any luck finding some. Don't know if it's a military regulation...
Oooops, spoke too soone. After I moved all my mounts and bases between my two Humvees, one a slant back and one a soft top, I still come up a antenna wip lower section short. I have several of the small thread 6707 mast sections, but need one larger 3900 lower section. If anyone has one...
So, with a lot of trial error, here is what I have. It appears that the 3900 base is the larger thread and most of my bases and antennas are of this model. The NOS antenna base and antenna mast I just received is a 6707 and is a small diameter thread. So, I don't need any adapters as I have...
