    Accidentally bought a deuce

OK, so back home it's time to reflect on what I learned: Truck is in half-decent shape, seems salvageable for sure but of course does have issues. Changed degraded steer tire to the spare that was low on air, but seemed to hold air. Engine cranked freely and would run on Starter fluid. Exhaust...

    Accidentally bought a deuce

I think that was likely some or all of my problem. Sadly, in my rushing and not being prepared, I did in fact snap the "tit" off the end of the fuel rod. So, time to call the tow truck. Sigh.

    Accidentally bought a deuce

Tires are all low, but otherwise it's more intact than I'd expected really. With two batteries it cranks and the electric fuel pump runs. Cranking with starter fluid the engine runs and will rev. Opening the air bleed on top of the fuel filter assembly, I got air for a while and then fuel, but...

    Accidentally bought a deuce

OK, my shipper failed to find somebody and the auction house is adamant it must be moved today, so 2 batteries, a 5-gallon diesel can, jack and cordless impact gun. A couple more hour drive and we'll see what what we see.

    Accidentally bought a deuce

Excellent info, thanks for that. Where exactly on the frame do I look? I had an early-type air-ride seat in my F800 and wound up switching to the plain bench because the air-ride was so noisy and I didn't like the abrupt stop at the end of travel. It may be the deuce is louder and needs the...

    Accidentally bought a deuce

I found a guy with some cruise control kits for my Think. I know they work on my F700 and I think they might work on my deuce as well.

    Accidentally bought a deuce

Good to know I can go that route at least for recovery.

    Accidentally bought a deuce

The guys at the local lumber yard remembered me for years the way they set a pallet of concrete on the truck and it didn't move. Of course, even in the days of gas being under $2, the like 3MPG I got hurt.

    Accidentally bought a deuce

Like you, I see a fixer that does happen to have a $1K winch. It's more of a moral imperative that a generally intact deuce must be worth over $1k. The back tires look decent-ish in the photos. I forget the process to single out a deuce, but that could a path to recovery until I figure out...

    Accidentally bought a deuce

Oh, I'm totally stoked on the price and overall visual condition of the truck (for the price especially), I'm just worried about a multi-thousand dollar tow and storage bill looming if I can't pull things together. It's worth a fair bit just for the excitement of what happens when I add...

    Accidentally bought a deuce

You know how you are looking at an auction site and sometimes you throw a big on something because it can't possibly be that cheap.... Decades ago, I bought a deuce for a remote welding rig, but I was very young and naive so wound up with a tired gasser REO from 1951. Loaded sand trucks would...

Need a deuce moved from Arbuckle,CA... to generally south and a little west.

Has to be moved by Friday, Jul 13. You know how it is, you happen to see something you totally don't need, but it's cool and it can't possibly go for that cheap... oo, I semi-inadvertently bought a deuce In Arbuckle. Eventually it gets moved to Santa Cruz,CA, but for now I just need it to get...

MEP-802A noob, having contactor and 24v charging issues,, also fuel gauge inop.

That seems to have done the trick! About half a fair size spray-can of some old tuner-cleaner I had on the shelf followed by a little deoxit. Just a few hours runtime with loads from near idle to 75% and an A/C unit starting and stopping in there as well as a bit of an overload and it ran...

MEP-802A noob, having contactor and 24v charging issues,, also fuel gauge inop.

I know I need to RTFM on the TMs, but I'm juggling an awful lot so hoping for a little luck and grace here. Recent purchase of a 2005 unit in non-working condition (so they say). Filters, oil change, fuel, batteries, replace some return fuel line and the incomplete holder for F1, and it starts...

    Are 6TL Batteries worth it?

There do exist "starter" LiFEPO4 batteries, but the cell construction does do a lot to determine the rate you can usefully and safely draw power from the cells. I have a "jump pack" a friend made with Headway cells that only weighs about 30# and will do 1000A for minutes with a 5-second surge...

Four 20' containers from Yermo,CA to Santa Cruz, CA or Fresno, CA. pickup by Jan 23.

I just scored a set of four rigid shelters down at Yermo, now I have to move them about 400 miles north. I'd like them to wind up in Santa Cruz (or Scotts Valley), but if it happens that somebody has capacity to take them to Fresno on the cheap, I've got a staging area that I could use. The move...

Might be a good option: epoxy

SPI (Southern Polyurethanes, Inc.) makes all sorts of automotive paint products and they seem to specialize in quality products for the hobbyist and small shop market as their products seem to have larger recoat windows and such. Anyway, I bought some of their DTM epoxy recently and in...

OK, now that the engine is running well, time to get back to the fuel system. The banjo fittings for the pickups are at the *very* bottom of the tank, so they silt up with rust and whatever else finds it's way into the fuel tank. I think this is my third or perhaps fourth time draining the tank...

Odyssey PC2250ST 6tl the bad? best seller?

I have several of these chargers in different applications, they charge each 12V separately which does assist in maintaining balance. I've got them on my 24v stuff and also on my 36v forklift. Apparently 48V is the max they are rated to so maybe don't go buying several to maintain your 120V...

I gather that motor was used in some other vehicles, I'd love to find a head gasket and other parts so that when I do eventually need to do a valve job I'll have parts on-hand. I see reference to how the engine is designed to burn some oil. I suspect a fair part of that oil use would be that...
