Yeah that would be ideal. I had seen them before but didn't know that's what they were until recently. I cannot find them for sale anywhere. I have never seen them off gens for that matter or referenced for 60kw. That being said it's a great reference point. If you see one please let me know. I...
Man I'm sorry. So much we don't know about low frequency.
One was selling for very cheap and I had the draw requirements to load it, but it would have been very dynamic. I don't want something so load it will be miserable. I've dredged this over a couple of posts but I was considering...
Good post. The hostile aircraft thing was funny. Not at the time though im sure. Load banks are expensive from what I've seen. Yes from time to time ill be welding solo and will only be pulling in the neighborhood of 70-130 amps but I can set another machine up on a sacrificial metal to run here...
Did you have a link for the conversion? Have only seen references. I've been all over trying to find my options there because it looks like ill be pulling just shy of 200 amps. Or with two stick welders over 200.

With 130, and 60 running one...
Your numbers seem spot on. The stick start up is high, I was under the impression the tig 250 idealarc would draw high amperage. I have thick metal work to do. Do you think the 006 is too much? And I saw a post reference about swapping it to single phase but couldn't find the full posting. I've...
Okay, just not sure a single phase under 40kw will handle it. Considering rewiring to single, was told it's easy don't understand the voltages after though.
Think the gen is overpowered? I've heard the 30kws would be enough but the gen expert said if I'm pulling 100 amps I need at least 40kw. I know they're underrated but I don't want to overdraw. I also don't want to tax machine on a high frequency start up.
208-230-460v. A generator specialist explained running on each leg I don't understand the concept at all could you elaborate? How far back would it need to be for hearing damage not to occur? Been reading about low frequency. Also, if I built a box around it and opened one side, the side I'm not...
I know this is old but it's a good thread, hoping I can piggy back. Mep 006a. Talked to generator guys. Running a welding machine, big old school lincoln or miller single phase I'm pushing out nearly 100 amps. I was looking at the mep 006a and was told running single on three isn't a good idea...
Running big welding machines, tig and stick. At first need to just run one or two at a time, but eventually planned to have at least 5 or six welding simultaneously. I was told for one machine I would need probably 20 kw. Lincoln and Miller 330 and 250 tigs. Pulling somewhere between 80 to 120...
