    Thanks for the info. After reading this thread about the slave port I decided it was time to read over the TM's for the M1008. I identified the slave port but still wasn't sure about the electrical cord, being from California I'd never seen a block heater or even thought about one. Like I said...

    Yes I have an electrical cord end sticking out of the grill on the driver side front. Sorry I don't have a camera to take a photo, besides I park my truck about a half mile from my cabin and ride in on a quad, no road just a trail. Perhaps I can post a photo in a few days.

    After checking the TM, the electrical cord coming out of the grill on my M1008 is not the slave port and most likely is a block heater.

    New guy here. Just figuring out my M1008 . This is my first diesel and I'm loving it so far. At first I was shocked by the lack of power compared to a gasoline motor. Are you talking about the electrical cord end that sticks out of the grill? What is that? Sorry for novice type question...

    I just bought a 1984 1008 CUCV and I'm waiting on delivery. It has the 6.2 liter diesel motor. What can I expect as far as MPG??
