I just bought two Iltis, and have many questions to ask. First, I understand there is a sort of key to turn under the dash. can someone please post pictures of this "key" and where it is located? I was digging the dirt and mouse nests out and found some parts and a weird sort of key. I will post...
Plowboy, are you still around? Just saw ground under my m135 and soon will be moving things around here in a month when ground dries up. Drop a line if you can. Been so busy haven't touched the trucks in a long while.
I hope you are successful with this mod. I will be tearing one down to check and re-bearing when the time allows, but I really want to be able to use my P.T.O. and don't want to blow either up. As for using any other engine /trans to power the deuce, I have one truck here that was "converted"...
Hello plowboy, as for "normal" amount of snow, it's kinda average I would say. Seems like it snowed every second day. Made it miserable to do anything in the basement, because you have to clear the snow first, and that took all weekend to get back to normal. My girlfriend only entered into the...
Flying Kitchen
This is a picture of a M135 equipped with a "flying Kitchen" used in the Canadian armed forces. My girlfriend worked in this type of setup when she served in the forces. The U.S. didn't go this way.
Just wanted to show how much snow has come down here.Believe it or not...
Hello "new Guy".... just a few words of encouragement to help with your new found passion., and a few words of advice...take things slow, and save everything you take off. Go really gentile with tearing anything apart as the replacement parts are mostly VERY hard to find. All you need to do to...
I had a chance to give the truck a run around the yard, and found it to suck big time when you got to 3rd gear. You lose far too much when you go to a standard setup. It really bogs down but on highway would likely go well, if you have no load or hills to worry about...
This is the latest truck I bought.
This is the one with the standard trans . It works good, but would work MUCH better with the original trans installed. I barely hauled the crane in first gear, where the other setup would have had no problem. I'll keep you posted on other stuff.
This is a 1963 G.M.C. 270 engine which I suspect has the same bolt pattern, for the bellhousing or was altered to bolt on to the 302. The flywheel, and clutch was also likely used, but uncertain at this time. I will be working on getting this truck running as soon as possible, now that my boom...
Transmission I.D.
To answer your question on transmission I.D. and bellhousing.....look here. I double checked to make certain I am right, and this is what was installed in place of the automatic. As for bellhousing, I believe it's a civilian truck bell from a 270 engine. Starter is unknown at...
Ok, what's next???
I gave up trying to edit the videos and just posted them as is,because I have little time and much on the go, so my apologies to everyone who has a comment about the filming. It's a new phone, and just getting used to it. I'll soon be getting to installing the rebuilt water...
