    M1061A vs. M1061E Trailer

Thanks for your reply. You may be right but the serial number on my trailer is 1424 when other trailers of the same type have serial numbers over 2000.

    M1061A vs. M1061E Trailer

I know that this is trailer question but hopefully someone here may know the answer. I have an M923 5 ton with a M1061E trailer. I see most of the M1061 trailers have an A designation, Curious as to the difference between the A and E models. I have visited the SS trailer site and the...

    Tire Leakage

Thanks for your comments. Unable to upload a picture at the moment. The fitting goes into the hub, not the wheel and was part of the CTIS. I have replaced the "O" ring the rim but still have a very slow leak in the tire and have bubble tested it without any problem.

    Tire Leakage

I have removed most of the CTIS system on my (93) M923. Is it possible to get tire leakage once the system has been removed. I have not yet removed the fitting into the rim and want to do so. Has anyone found the proper pipe plug size?

Need to know what series this 1991 AM general 5 ton is?

I do not believe that this truck is a true 1991 AM General, it might have been a rebuild. BMY had the contract from around mid 1989 to May 1993.

Incorrect Year on Title ??? California Registration Assistance?

I believe that the M939 series of trucks built by BMY were all built between early 1989 until May of 1993. There is a serial number stamped on the drivers side of the frame just back of the front tire. The number in most cases was printed vertical and is sometimes hard to find since it may be...

Thanks to Planefast for the pictures of your wet tank. There is nothing like some pictures

Location of air compressor & governor

Thanks to MtnSnow & 98G about your comments on the 125 psi blow off valve. I am replacing it with a 150 psi valve. As you both pointed out it was too close to the governor rating and in warming up the truck yesterday, it did pop one time when the primary gauge show about 125 psi. Thanks...

Location of air compressor & governor

I want to thank all the members who responded to the post I started about the compressor and governor. I am happy to report that the problem has been rectified and it was rather simple in the end. When I got my truck the relief valve on the wet tank was a problem because it kept releasing air...

Location of air compressor & governor

What is the normal pressure of the wet tank. I think my main problem is that my M923A2 came with a relief valve rated for 65 psi which keeps discharging. It appears that this valve should have a rating over 100 psi, probably as high as 125. Is that correct

Governor not the problem Porkysplace -- Thanks for your reply and help. You have made a good point and I will read the air brake section more throughly. I am quite familiar with heavy equipment having owned many bus coaches and motorhomes but never got too involved in the air brake systems...

Location of air compressor & governor

Dilligaf24 -- Thanks for your reply -- The relief valve that keeps discharging is located between wet tank and the rear brakes booster. I have installed a new PPV, new relief valve and a new governor with no luck. My air pressure has lately been reduced to about 60 psi on the gauges...

Location of air compressor & governor

73m819 --Thanks for your reply. I have replaced the governor and PVC and still have the problem. What is an unloaded valve? I am going to look at the air dryer next.

Location of air compressor & governor

Thanks porkysplace. I had seen this page but was looking for more detail. I find it very hard to find a specific thing in the tech manuals without a ton of time being involved especially for newcomers. The minute detail in many cases is ridiculous. yet in other cases there appears to be a...

Location of air compressor & governor

The governor is located on the outer firewall of the M939 series. I have looked through all the 5 ton posts and TM 272-24-1 & 2. I have replaced the PPV and the pressure relief valve on the wet tank line to the brakes and cannot stop the relief valve from discharging. Would the governor be...

PPV valve replacement does seem to solve the problem

I have a 1993 M923A2. The air pressure relief valve (65 psa) to the brakes keeps releasing air on a periodic basis. I have just replaced the PPV valves with a Haldex L31258 (equivalent to a 90555396) with no change in the relive valve releasing air.. My primary and secondary dash gauges read...
