Sounds easy when you say it like that! I know it'll be easier than a classic car with complicated interiors and glossy paint and all. Should be an adventure!
Any of the reproduction manuals and better than the others?
So I sold my M923A2 and was thinking I was out of the OD green thing for a while. Even went and bought a new side by side ATV.
Then a friend offered me a Dodge Power Wagon pick-up truck. I thought it was a civi model which is pretty cool. It's a project, but ran when parked 2 years ago...you...
Get the SF-97, it will be so much easier. An ISP VIN investigator basically told me it wasn't going to happen without one. I got one of the first batches of trucks from GP. They weren't going to issue SF-97 because there was no year of manufacture stamped on the dash plate. They finally got...
I've got another O-ring that needs replaced on a wheel, apparently. Have a slow leak. I've been starting the truck every weekend to keep batteries topped off, CTIS would keep the tire up as well. Today the CTIS would not come on. I noticed the air pressure would just hit 120 PSI, then...
You seem to have a Mustang infestation there! Awesome! What I wouldn't give for a shop like that, let alone the contents!!
My gal is 5' with her hair done-up. She loves to drive the M923 (after I literally boost her up to get in).
Gotta love the "honk", especially when some poor...
It would be awesome to be able to get one of those cables. Would seem to be a must have for anyone with CTIS if they could be produced for a reasonable amount.
Yup it fried. Odd, it seems these things come in waves. Lots of recent posts on this. I guess they are all about the same age though. Seems like if you have a m939, you will be replacing an alternator.
My truck leaked from those hoses when I got it. Had 1 broken clamp and the others were loose. Kind of a pain being able to see them, more or less repaired by feel on those.
The alternator is part number 90-01-4152. I paid $197 plus a $33 core charge. It does not have Delco Remy on the back of it. It is a Reman unit.
Got it all hooked up today before the snow started to fly.
Everything went in fine. I ended up not needing to extend any wires.
It puts out...
Slowly gathering up the parts to get everything back together. Got the Cummins bracket and painted it. I made up a lower bracket to keep the stock sized belt. I couldn't find the exact size steel bar. Stock is 5/16" thick. I was given a piece that is 1/4". I imagine it will be plenty...
The one I got is a Wilson Electric through NAPA, 70Amp. I struck out at the salvage yard, didn't have a single 6CTA. So I just ordered the one from Cummins for $90.00.
i need to get new terminals for their alternator and get them crimped on. Might have to extend the battery wire to reach...
Sounds like what happened To mine. I'm doing the civi alternator conversion right now. BTW failing to shut down the truck properly can also fry the power control box. Always turn the run switch off, then the battery switch.
Decided to do this mod. I was able to find a Delco alternator (reman) here locally. I still need to get a pulley. Question on the pulley. Is the shaft tapered, or does the pulley just snug down against the fan part? My understanding is there is no key/keyway on the Delco (I haven't picked it up...
Everything in it was pretty fried, I already tossed it as it was stinking up the garage really bad! I'm probably really lucky the whole truck didn't go up.
There's an alternator shop over in Idaho Falls, they do a lot of big rig and farm equipment stuff. I'm gonna see what they have for...
