    Fording Kit Dipstick Question

Good luck with putting it together. I put the parts & project aside a while back, but was just organizing the garage today and found all of them, and just saw you referenced 86humv's tip. You have just inspired me to complete my installation!

    Mounting and balancing the tires

Second the Centramatic suggestion. Easy to install, never balance wheels again. Invoice attached with model number.

6.5 N.A. dies on rev up in idle

What did you come up with? Mine does the same. Cleaned out fuel tank, changed all filters in system, ran Seafoam through intake and crankcase (cleared up other issue). Cold advance is next on list.

    Fuel Tank Access Cover

Thanks Lawdog. I knew a few people on here have had them for sale, but it's worth $102 to me to not have to drop that tank again.

    Loss of power. White smoke.

"You know what, on second thought the leaking injector's fuel will still be burnt off in the cylinder on each cycle, so if your engine is not knocking don't bother. You would crack each injector separately." Going back on this. Check the injectors. Leaking/faulty injector will cause white smoke.

    Possible leaking injector?

    Fuel Tank Access Cover

Anyone have a good source for the Access Cover Kit? After removing my new style tank twice for various service, this modification would be highly valued. If anyone needs to do a tank service (diesel bug washout, sock replacement, level sender replacement, cold weather fuel heater), I would...

    Something rattling in my head

I had an issue recently with my 6.2l knocking on the top end. Certainly sounded like the valve train. It had sat for a period of time without starting, and had old diesel in it. Would not start due to a fueling issue. Problem ended up being the fuel shutoff valve that the solenoid actuates was...

    Power Steering noise and problem

Just a thought, check the alternator bracket that the power steering pump is attached to (only if you have the smaller alternator). I was having a problem with mine, bought a PS pump and found out the bracket had broken. Ended upgrading to a new 200 alternator, as I couldn't find the bracket for...

6.5 knock? Piston slap? Fuel Delivery issue?

Quality of service is not what it used to be unfortunately. I've had it for 6 years now. Was a daily driver, but California has cracked down on rights and it has been parked for a few years with battery charging and weekly starts. So, sound is gone. Started it today a few times, no lifter...

6.5 knock? Piston slap? Fuel Delivery issue?

Thanks for the update. That's unfortunate. Shop certainly sounds questionable. Certainly not normal operation. My unit went dead due to old fuel clogging the fuel shutoff valve in the high pressure pump. Cleaned the system, freed the valve, bled the injectors and got it running. Now have the...

6.5 knock? Piston slap? Fuel Delivery issue?

Any luck on your diagnosis? Bad injector or lifter? I've got the exact same issue.

    Injector Pump Question

Freeing the metering valve did the trick! The mechanism had gotten stuck due to old diesel fuel. Came unstuck with some gentle manipulation, mechanism is outlined in the attached picture. Buttoned everything back up, bled all injectors and fired it up. Note: Pushed the pedal down to the floor...

    It's alive!!!

TLDR: Wire up a momentary button in the cab to a 24v relay, purchase a HMMWV glow plug harness and replace the current factory harness (just tie the old connectors out of the way), and push the button when you need glow plugs. The manual temporary button for controlling glow plugs is a good way...

    Injector Pump Question

Thanks to Jyg101's info, the metering valve is now moving freely. It was stuck, so was only seeing slight dampness while trying to bleed the injectors. The top of the pump was clean but the fuel was old and it sat about 2 months without starting. Thank you for the steps, its tough to be sure its...

    Injector Pump Question

Great picture! That clarifies it nicely. Thank you.

    Injector Pump Question

Thanks. So the tab goes in the metal actuator from solenoid, or the actuator goes just in front? It's tough because you can't actually see how it fits when you pull it apart.

    Injector Pump Question

Great suggestion!!!! Thank you. The lever that the Fuel Shutoff Solenoid actuated was frozen. Once I worked it back and forth, it moved freely again. This was also suggested on another discussion, but not having looked at a properly functioning system I did not want to break a part by forcing...

    Injector Pump Question

Took a look into the top cover of the HP Pump today. It was filled with fuel, quite clean inside. Everything appeared to be working as it should on top, including the Fuel Shutoff Solenoid and the Cold Advance, demonstrated in the video. Now, I have not messed around with a brand new one so...
