Sent a Deuce and trailer down the road with this company today. Small operation with great service and equipment, 53' ramp step deck beaver tail. Both the dispatch and driver were polite, knowledgeable and did exactly what they said they would do. Actually, showed up early even. Been a...
Morning
Had similar issues two years ago after firing it up after 5 year sit. The diesel had gummed up the mech. fuel pump. I removed the fuel line from the mech. pump that feeds the secondaries. The fuel only trickled out the output side with the in tank pump running. I squirted Acetone in...
- Update -
She might be toast. Trailered it to a friend who is a mechanic, former Navy Mech. even. He pulled the oil pan and there was lots of metal in it. He "put a bar on it and can't get it to turn", referring to the engine. Not sure where one places said bar to try to turn it over but...
Matt5 - I believe I asked my Dad the same questions in the same order. He felt like a soup sandwich so I had to take a different approach. My conversation would have been much different had it been one of my boys doing something like that.
The lack of oil still remains a mystery. Granted the...
My Dad was using the 1008 to haul a load of wood home from the farm. It started to get gutless coming up a hill and then smoked a bit and died on side of road. He called Mom to bring some oil. Turns out my near 80 yo parents deduced that there was no oil appearing on the dipstick...
You guys are awesome and a lot of good ideas for me or the next guy searching posts two years from now while his truck is causing sleepless nights. I am extremely happy to report my son got to drive the Deuce last night.
I decided we were going to start over at the beginning and test at each...
I did replace the fuel line and thought I was being smart. Now in the last couple days of reading posts to figure out my issue, I see reference to submersible hose. I'll have to order one and replace it again later.
Would it be possible that the engine is consuming fuel faster than fuel can...
Thank you for the suggestions Gimpy & Rusty. I ended up pulling the lines from the boost pump and injecting some Acetone into it for a couple hours. I hooked the inlet hose back up and turned on the elec. pump to flush it. Worked great, Instead of the previous little dribble, fuel shot out...
Howdy gang. I've been away and out of the game for a while, having read and searched posts for an hour, I miss this site. Long story short, my son wants to drive a deuce in the FFA event next week. Been 6 years since a deuce fired up.
1 Drained fuel and cleaned tank it was gummy shellac...
Reading all your posts has started making me nervous. For over a year I've wanted to put my Chevelle 350 in the M715. I only know enough to get lucky or in trouble from time to time. All this talk of adapters, re-centers, swaps etc. makes me think I need to take it to a shop. No clue what...
Forgot to mention, one of my newly bad deuce batts shows 12.4 V until I hit it w/ the load tester then it drops to 7 or 8 w/in 5 seconds. That is after sitting on the charger for a day.
Following with interest. I have two deuce batts. that were working great up until this winter. May have to try the Epsom salt thing too. I've got so darn many toys now that take batts. that I bought a load tester. Great investment.
The problem as you described it sounds alt / batt...
I don't have an opinion on your plan but I can answer one of your questions from my real world exp.
I load the bed of my deuce with cut fire wood approx. 2' high and pull a M105 trailer packed to the bows. It handles like a pig. Very underpowered going up grade, stops ok with the trailer...
The kids wanted to play in the snow and so did I. They wanted to burn energy and I wanted to burn gas. We all ended up having fun. I was happy with the 715 in 2 wheel drive. The snow wasn't deep but a couple of small hills didn't stop it. In 4x4 it really did well for not having a locker...
