I searched the forum already but could not quite find what I was looking for...
I have an issue with the turning lights of my M923:
When I move the lever on the steering column it only lights constantly but does not flash. BUT it does not always behave like that. After driving a while it mostly...
Just wanted to let you know I finally finished the jake project this year and retrofitted my M923 A1 with two Jacobs 25b heads on cylinders 1&2 and 3&4.
Took some time and modifications but in the end it worked well.
Anyway I couldn't have done it without Will's help - many thanks again! :-)...
Searching for pictures of M939 trucks in service.
Looking for all the details needed to refurbish the truck originally... fire extinguisher, chock blocks, ropes, chains, tools, markings, ...
I just came across this thread using the search function.
Really thought about a looong time of how I want my M923 repainted and came across the following picture.
Does anyone know what kind of camo this is? Looks something like MERDC but with only 3 colors and they also seem to look different...
Hey guys,
Did anyone ever had a problem with the turning lights not flashing but glowing steadily when engaging the lever?
The problem seems to be related to the horn (button?) somehow.
If one works both work, if one isn't both are not working.
I'm a bit confused because it happens at...
That's exactely what I was reading before I contacted the Jacobs support :-)
Would you let us know about your experience if you did mount those two heads? Would really be interested in that, since as I said I don't have space above cylinders 5&6
Really interesting - are you sure about that?
The Jacobs support told me once that you shouldn't put Jakes heads on only cylinders 1&2 + 3&4 or 3&4 + 5&6 because if you turn on both you would bring on uneven load on the crankshaft and have a lot of vibrations.
Usually when you have the 3 stages...
That means that the pressure switch will only give a signal if the tranny is locked up after shifting from 1st to 2nd, right?
It cannot detect if there is a shifting in progress e.g. back from 4th to 3rd?
I assume that if I keep the Jake brake engaged during a shift the brake pads in the tranny...
Wow great! First of all thank you very much for your answers and the wiring Diagramm.
I'm actually planning to use a small foot-switch like the one for high beam to turn on the jake.
So if I got that right there is already a switch on the fuel pump I can use and there is also this pressure...
Hi all,
I'm planning to equip my M923 A1 with a Jake brake and did a lot of reading and researching the last weeks.
Still I could not find answers to all of my questions.
Can anyone tell me something about the lockup of the tranny?
The Allison Manual says that the Transmission has a lockup in...
I jused an original seal which was sealed in it's package. Probably a NOS part. But that's a good point - maybe there was something wrong with it.
When I changed the oil seal on one of the rear differential these days I also noticed that the rubber itself was quite badly manufactured :-(
Now I...
Total freeplay is maybe a bit more than 1/8". But not 1/8" out of center line...
I thought there might be a leak between axle and seal retainer? The retainer was pressed in very well - I wasn't able to disassemble it.
Maybe the new seal was NOS and had some damage?
I just want to be sure there...
I've been reading for hours in this forum now but haven't found a solution for my problem :shrugs:
My M923 A1 has a oil leak on the front axle. Oil drips from behind the axle boot. So I changed the inner oil seal.
The first ride it was all good but after 50mls it started leaking again. I'm...
Right now I am at the point where I should change the inner oil seal - the part which is left out in the video :-)
But I have big problems to disassemble it. It just won't come out...
Did anyone ever did this? Is there a trick to manage that?
Ok then I will have to disassemble brake drum & hub and drive shaft to get to the seal.
The knuckle boot looks quite new actually. Maybe someone changed it to get rid of the oil leak...
Could anyone tell me what wrench size I need for the bearing locknut and bearing adjusting nut?
Concerning...
I have actually an oil leak at the steering knuckle boot. Is it that this boot is a sealing for the oil inside the axle or is it just protecting the axle shaft from dirt and water?
I'm afraid that I have to do all the steps in the video to change the inner oil seal... :-(
